It really does depend on the team PV picks. If he puts Hughes next to Doucs so we focus on ball retention and playing through their press then I will be confident, as well as if he eases up on our disjointed press and we play in a mid block to draw them up the pitch and create space for us to attack into in transitions. If he sticks Ayew and Jeff in there and still thinks we can play our way up the pitch we'll see yet another slow first half that we have to rescue

Don't really rate Saints much but they always give us a game and generally they're quite back and forth between us, I'd argue with them edging it technically and us looking more dangerous on the counter. I don't really trust this side at the moment so I'm saying a 1-1

Very good summing up

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

let's be honest with ourselves, this is one of those games that we are expected to win at home if we are not to slide further in to trouble!

I'm feeling the old sense of doom descending upon me I'm afraid. The weakness and lack of variety in our squad is starting to look like a big problem. I hope I'm wildly wrong, but I fear we will lose this one - possibly 0-2 - and suddenly the relegation zone will be creeping up behind us.

Last home game before World Cup. possibility of following our new (this season's) tradition and coming from one down to win 2-1.

The best form of defence is attack. PV is allowed five substitutes.
Please could he start with his five man attack, and bring on reinforcements (some Academy - like J K Gordon and Joe Whitworth when we are 4-0 to the good at 55 minutes. First slot on MOTD beckens.

If this happens our academy boy Gordon might just chalk one up to get a 5-0?

or we win and threaten Europe ( I don't have a rolling eyes emoji )

Maybe after 20 games we will have some informed idea on how the season is shaping, far too congested in the middle table at the moment

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Maybe or maybe not. Anyway, this thread is about predicting the result of today's match, which I have done.

And incidentally, this club with its current squad will never "threaten" Europe, as you put it!

If PV sticks with Ayew and Schlupp (midfield), we will again be run over. I would like to see a team like:
Guaita
Ward - Andersen - Guehi - Schlupp
Hughes - Doucoure - Riedewald
Olise - Zaha - Eze.
Happy with every point we get, so one will do for me.

or maybe we are just 4 points off bottom spot, win today essential to relieve the pressure that both managers and players feel when your anchored near the bottom of the league!
