It depends on what you want. Although property has increased significantly since the pandemic, it remains way below those in the south-east. The same applies to many parts of the UK. Many people retire here on good pensions and put cash in the bank from their property transactions. Others move for the lifestyle and accept lower paid jobs and simple accommodation. The only thing that restricts is what is in your head. Yet Ive just sold a house in Scorrier, where you live, for 512000 not so affordable..??

I have a friend who lives in Point whose house, being on the river, is worth over £2 million. The average in Cornwall for a detached house was, in 2021, around £350,000 according to the LR data. I know this because I am currently in dispute over our tax band.

I used to live within 3 miles but not now. Everywhere is expensive if you cannot afford it. It’s the comparison between areas that is the subject. Cornwall has increased more than others since the pandemic. It’s not difficult to understand why.

Man who lives in nice area complains about tax. I read a great story about a woman who thought her property was in the wrong band the council agreed and raised her and the whole street to the next level. I bet she didn't go out much after that the neighbours must have loved her. I checked my tax band and according to the rules I am right on the edge of the next one up so I decided silence is golden, just in case.

Those that see the same parallels that I do, might find it interesting. I am not concerned either way. I am mostly an observer in a story about a man I never met.
