Given the World Cup schedule, any opportunity to get a game on has to be taken.

Palace and Brighton having a 4 and then a 6 week break in the first half of the season is madness.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

You would think so but logic doesn’t seem to happen too often in planning matches. What with the v tough start, this season is feeling like a war of attrition and I’m thinking I’ll take just being in the PL for 23/24

I called Brighton today suggesting that since the reason for calling off the game has been removed (the proposed train strike) could the club confirm that the game was now going ahead?
Seems logical and straightforward.
All the club would say is that it was still awaiting a rescheduled date and it could not comment on the possibility of it now being played on the original date.

That is a far too sensible suggestion for the Premier League to deal with. we'll end up playing back to back Saturdays with Brighton on Tuesday and United on the Thursday.

As people (Media) are talking about 10 days of national mourning & the original date for the game was just within those 10 days (& the decision to postpone games this weekend) I would be very surprised to see the game reinstated on the original date

The football authorities need to be seriously questioned about all this. It is all getting very messy. With constantly changing games for sky and now games being postponed while other sports going ahead, then the World Cup, international breaks etc. I am struggling to see this season being played out. With strikes this winter a certainty, it’s looking bleak in the bleak mid winter with frosty winds moaning. If the weather turns cold, earth hard as iron water like a stone, what then? Woke patrol come in please. OMG.

10 days of national mourning is totally OTT in my opinion. I’m sure she, like most of us, would just want the world to continue with minimal fuss. It causes huge upheaval for the public with cancellations etc.

Full sport stadiums observing a minute silence/bellowing out the National anthem with pride would be a far more fitting and emotional tribute.

As sad as it is, it’s just been pushed in my face for the past 36 hours non stop. Would love to read about other news and watch some sport. Found myself watching ‘Padel’ yesterday on BT Sport 3 which I can only describe as a mix of tennis and squash. The chips are down.

Maybe its just written somewhere- Serving Monarch = 10 days(idk)

I think in these cases there is a natural tendency for people to drift towards their own aligning the length of public mourning to how senior the person was, how long they served, how much they achieved in their lifetime & how loved the person was by the nation - Obviously that's not an easy calculation to make -especially as we dont have many yardsticks to measure it by - its been an absolute lifetime since we had a serving monarch pass away - probably the most recent examples of anything similar being Winston Churchill, the Queen Mother & Princess Diana ( I cant remember if there was public mourning periods for any of them & they weren't heads of state)

Also - times are different now, with the internet death & disaster are reported by the media on an almost daily basis, I think as a global population we see, feel & move on much quicker than we ever used to, I dont think it means we care any less but we do know that it wont be long before we are hearing about another tragedy somewhere soon.

Please understand I am not trying to appear disrespectful, its just the way I see modern life, things have changed -

And at Selhurst we would have lifted the roof at a live game. Such a shame. Huge opportunity of patriotism missed.

10 days of National Mourning is not 10 days of shut down, most activities should continue, but with due respect and consideration of the circumstances.

All Sport is going on Today, Cricket, Golf, Horse Racing ETC, so why is football, the 10-day Mourning for Business's, Schools and Shops is optional, close or open at your discretion, as for next week Palace should appeal for a change of decision as the reason it was postponed is now not relevant.
