I think the only really natural goal scorers we had in my time of Watching was, Mike Elwiss, Kevin Mabbutt, Ian Wright and Andy Johnson, sadly the first two suffered career ending injuries.

Although Georgia Elwiss is playing cricket at England level and is a close relative of Mike. I did like Mike Elwiss though a decent striker who got us up that season.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Not a natural though, needed the ball on his head to score.

Mabbutt was a natural and his injury was heart breaking. I believe Matt Jansen would have become an all time great too if he had stayed longer. His career declined after the terrible motor bike accident.

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

If Edouard was a bit more selfish, decisive and aggressive I feel he could join the revered club. But I suppose ‘if’ could change a lot of things that it won’t.

I think our lack of a prolific striker and Wilfried Zaha being on the pitch at the same time is not merely coincidence.

In the right place at the right time Saturday. If we could put a few more balls in like that our strikers will thrive. Hopefully the beginning of a good run for OE.

How many goals would Haaland score for Palace?
Possibly not too many.
Analysing his goals for City he is reliant on consistent service into the penalty area which he is obviously very adept at finishing.
While acknowledging that we haven’t got a De Bruyne, Silva or Foden we still don’t provide good enough service to our central striker.
Edouard finished his chance on Saturday, but I can’t recall another opportunity being created for him.
Mateta finished against Villa from a good cross from Mitchell.
These are rare situations for us - where the goals that are created need one touch to finish.
Some have argued that our strikers are not good enough, but perhaps it’s a case that the service isn’t good enough too.
If they were missing loads of chances there may be a case for saying they are not clinical enough, but the paucity of chances we create make it a difficult judgement.

It's how I see it as well. When crosses are put in the danger area our central strikers can convert them a good percentage of the time. The problem is not only aren't there enough balls into the box, but too often the crosses that are made are too easy for the opposition defenders to deal with.
