For sure we need a better provider in the midfield and more quality up front but neither commodity is easy to come by.

With Dennis gone and Pedro likely to go if Sarr is sold think the board will get a big backlash from fans as they said we didn’t need to sell but presume we are more financially troubled than was let on .

Wilf out of contract and 29 years old. Makes sense to me.

Rarely brilliant. Usually average - I'm not getting excited by this. Keep Wilf is my advice. Sarr is nowhere near as good as Wilf. Agree 100%!!! Both Dennis and Sarr did nothing in the two games against us last season and didn’t even look interested at Selhurst Park.

Apropos Sarr, he displays the odd flash of brilliance but I have seen him play on the periphery and go missing in games.Got real pace but he has never been a player who has got me drooling about his performances.

If we are looking at a left winger I'd rather try and get Pepe in on loan. I know he has a tendancy to go missing too but as he showed us in Roy's last home game there is a very good player in there.

Palace's scouting team have supposedly been monitoring him since before he signed for Watford, so I am confident they see him as a player with room to develop to perhaps a more consistently high level. No offence to Watford but they have been all over the shop since he has been there, replacing the manager more often than the toilet paper in the changing room and yo-yoing between PL and Championship. In recent years Dougie has not made many mistakes in the transfer market. Having said all that, I do think the reported £30m+ asking price is too much for a club our size.

Who is this better provider in our price range?

Arsenal paid £70m for Pepe, how much no you think they are going to sell him for? I don’t think we’d like to buy at any price.

You'd wonder how Watford ever got relegated with their front 3 in such demand! Agreed. I read we have offered £18m for Sarr and £10m for Wan ( which I’ve been saying all summer should be our bid). Both would make sound business.
