Always entertaining to read the ‘opinions’ of a bunch of middle aged racists and I’m so not surprised to see the usual suspects all over this. Thanks guys, you never disappoint. Do you honestly believe that the boards of clubs worth hundreds of millions, if not billions, appoint managers based on their skin colour?

Only 2 of the 98 clubs in the big five UEFA leagues have black managers. Patrick Vieira has termed it "disturbing." I call it very low indeed, and I wonder why it is so...

So I pay my £600 a year ST, alongside another say £200 for away tickets as well as probably another £1000 or more in travel and food and drink to watch a primarily BLACK football team that I love; and I’m a racist. Tbh in my world colour is skin deep. Edited by cryrst (08 Aug 2022 6.10am)

There are reasons why so many Black players are playing in our leagues, a lot of which is due to the scouting process at school age and the price of players from certain countries. Selecting managers and coaches is based on their perceived abilities and likelihood of winning games. We now have many people employed in this country who were selected purely to tick a box and there are many examples, some of which I am personally aware of, who could not do the job. Top football clubs cannot afford to do that with manages. It also has a lot to do with the way the game has evolved . The days of a rotund Phil Holder controlling the midfield or a ponderous big man up front have long gone . We now see a faster game with athletic attributes trumping almost every other aspect of the game . And lets face it ,you only have to look at the recent athletics , the black boys come out as winners on that score .

The area where the club is based has a large black community and if we take local talent there is a good chance they'll be black kids. Although, I accept we have a fair few black, foreign players too. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is quite noticeable nonetheless.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Yeah. Just seems weird in a politically correct world, the media would say that the 2000 England team , were 5/6 black , inc Cole and Ferdinand as black. Good morning Casual. I’m not working this week - so will try to help you out. Take Barack Obama - his father was African, his mother “European” - mixed race but how was he viewed? By society? Most definitely black. The mixed race people I know mostly feel that “black” is the right category for them in a mostly white society. It might be hard to get your head around but, not being automatically part of the main group makes you a minority. And as many black people will tell you - it only takes one person to say “go back to where you come from, monkey” for you to recalibrate your sense of what group you’re in. Yes it’s happened to me more times than I care to mention or remember. I feel sorry for those idiots that say such things. Croydon born and bred. They can eff off. So you’re right about it being political correct- after all race is about politics (I don’t mean in the party politics sense) but calling oneself black is not about being “right-on” - which is how I assume you meant it. Apologies if that’s incorrect. As for kneeling- it’s up to the players, if you ask me. Given the amount of abuse players continue to receive- I wonder if it has had any real positive effect and the FA are using it to say they are doing something, when they’re doing F.A. Some say it makes things worse. “I wasn’t a racist until I saw them kneeling- how dare they stick it down my non-racist throat”. Not sure I follow that logic… Anyway mate - that’s my two pennies.

I agree earlier physical development is one reason black kids get through more, but I think it’s also determination due to childhood situations, plus the amount they’re likely to and do play over white boys. South London estate kids are always playing like kids used to.

I don't think it's that extremist to point out the lack of black people in much of Eastern Europe. Frankly, a lot of the people in those countries are openly racist. They're not really mixed race societies like the UK.

His exact quotes were: Patrick Vieira claims he has been made to feel uncomfortable in Warsaw and believes there is a "lack of education" in Poland. The former Arsenal midfielder also thinks that Uefa have missed the boat for tackling racism at the tournament. Vieira told ITV: "I have been here for two or three days now and I feel strange walking around this city (Warsaw). “You can feel there is not so many black people around and people look at you strange. I feel there is a lack of education of this country." It's not a case of being too white for his tastes, he's clearly talking about the way he is being treated by others. It is well known that there is a far right, racist element to some of the football hooligan groups out in Eastern Europe. If you think what he has said there is an extreme view, certainly in light of the action that organisations such as UEFA have had to take in Poland against racism and a Panorama documentary at the time which showed the below, then you really don't know the meaning of the word. "Panorama spent a month filming at matches in both the joint host nations and witnessed Nazi salutes from the terraces, black players being taunted with monkey chants, rampant anti-Semitism and a vicious assault on a group of Asian students." In a statement, Uefa said: "Uefa Euro 2012 brings the spotlight on the host countries and clearly creates an opportunity to address and confront such societal issues.
