Tax cuts yes or no.

Has to be the winner, Truss is leading the throng.

Of course they all voted Sunak's tax hikes through but that's politics.

And what job are these nurses moving on to then?
Hopefully a better one but I doubt it has a pension that a state worker gets. This is very under discussed but very relevant in why the wages are a bit lower than private employment.

I think you may be surprised as to how low the average CS pension is. Depends totally on your salary and years of service.
The scheme I was on, your pension was 1/80th of your salary for every year service, so after 40 years you got 50% of salary. The new scheme is based on career earnings and no lump sum.
I also found out when I retired that CS had opted me out of some NI Contributions, still not sure I understand this but I have been paying lump sums every year since I retired to ensure I got full state pension. Having started work at 16, in 1972 and paid my last lump sum in 2022, that’s a lot of years NI

I think you've forgotten the 3/80ths tax-free lump sum for every year of service on top of the pension ie 150% of salary after 40 years.

Also, I do worry that you may have been wrongly-advised about needing to pay those "catch-up" NI contributions. Whereas you may well have been opted-out of the State Earnings Related Pension, and therefore you paid NI at less than the full rate, it's impossible to be opted out of basic state pension accrual.

No. Topping up is extremely good value

Depending if you will recoup what you pay. It could be 70£ a year for a grand top up.
Ok if you live 15 years but a loss leader otherwise.

She also has single-handedly fecked UK agriculture by doing extremely poor deals with low welfare, low cost, low quality providers. Ask Useless Eustace, who is quite clear on that matter when not on camera.

I suppose if she can feck all of us you could also feck her but not for me pal, I would definitely vomit shortly after starting.

At your age the starting bit must be difficult enough!
Only kidding maple I’m sure you a lion in the sack gggrrrrr
