My understanding is that these are two separate items. the first is to transfer his shares in Palace to his holding company and the second is to get Palace to act as guarantor for his purchase of Lyon and it's the second that the other Palace shareholders are not happy with - and why should they be

I may have misunderstood this but I don't like what is going on we could end up in a spiders web of companies like Robert Maxwell.

Mr. Jamie Salter from all reporting appears to be a personal friend of Mr. Textor's and a 'partner' from early on in Eagle Holdings. Salter: [Link] Mr. Jean-Pierre Conte, Chairman and Managing Director; Genstar Capital "is in charge of acquisitions, divestitures and the supervision of portfolio companies. During his tenure, Genstar has grown from having $100 million of assets under management to $33 billion." [Link] Others?....football/sporting directors from the triangle of clubs?....Textor's cat?...Blitzer (now that he and Textor are interacting Botafogo<->Estoril, e,g. Erison loan, swapping shares between their two holding companies is an obvious financial technique to aid in flatten the 'risk curve" ) ??....Salter's children...who knows??)...welcome to the financial wall of the holding company. Thomas Foley dropped out when in October he acquired Bornemouth, and a credit facility to Textor was yanked by Cannae. (SEC filings from Cannae holdings). Personally, and from the financial side of me, I see this (Foley's exit off the field of play) as good.

The bottom line is what is our bottom line? Are we skint, or do we have transfer funds? I'm thinking that we need maybe three or four players by the beginning of next season. At today's prices that's going to be over 50 mil. If we stand still, it's only a matter of when, rather than if, we will go down. 50 mil is frankly a conservative estimate. The only caveat is if one of the youngsters is good enough. They're not getting a look in currently, so looks doubtful.

This time period is going to be fascinating, what happens with Zaha, who we get in.....Our team seems on the cusp of change from middle rung and it's either uptown or downtown....We have talented young players who are gaining experience and it's interesting to see how Textor will influence that.

I get frankly frustrated by all the ownership shenanigans and the thought of Zaha going to Villa on a free doesn't fill me with glee.

There isn't really anything in the article that we didn't already know - I suppose what we really want to know is where in the Textor (Super group) pecking order are we sitting, are we top or behind Lyon ? followed by: How likely is it that throwing a few Euros at Lyon will see them with a Champions League place ? ( & how much more attractive does that make them ?) One good point in our favour is that we have Parish who seems to be laser focused on making sure Palace get their fair share of the cake ( although to be fair its got to be recognised that with the amount of money that could require to be involved its not actually going to be his cake)

However some Palace fans think Textor is good for the club whereas I am suspicious that his goals are not necessarily our goals. As a fan group we need to watch this closely. There is click bait that we are after an American striker it maybe rubbish, it maybe he is a discovery, or it even maybe that Textor is pulling the strings with his contacts. Charlton fans trumpeted their Belgian owner and his network of clubs until they discovered that the other clubs appeared to benefit more than they did. You make a good point about Champions League. To qualify from the PL you would need to better probably 6 of the richest clubs in the world. Whereas you get gain entry to the CL from other countries far cheaper so where would you put your money? FYI DE I am booked to Uzbekistan in April thanks for the assist. Edited by Badger11 (18 Dec 2022 9.41am)

I think we would be the top of the four, OLs squad is worth less than us, and the money generated in the Premiership per club dwarfs the French league, it seems a good idea on paper, four teams who can swap players between clubs at reduced fees, lets see if it works in real life.
