What a dilemma. We have missed our chance of big money for him. Why would anyone pay more than £20m now?
He’s only got a one more season contract right now. Wait a season, offer him say £ 8m signing on and salary aged 30 and hope to get 2 seasons.
Slightly different to Ronaldo on £30m for two seasons.
His contract with us runs out at 30 eg one more year. After that he may be worth one more season at £6m (his current salary).
I reckon he will sit on the fence now.
He’s a very strong boy. Just hope he keeps going here till he is say 32
Right now he is still our best most consistent player.
Anyone who was there on Sunday knows how valuable he is to us.

He’ll be touching 31 by the time he is out of contract with us. 10 November.
He’s our best player by some way.
Stay

As i understand it he can enter contract negotiations with another foreign club at Christmas but not a British one. Is the Manure clause still active? We have a World cup in November and prices for the stars will be exorbitant in the winter window, his value my rise if he has a good first half of the season but trying to find a replacement cheaply will be difficult.

Disagree - consistent is one thing he's not.

Guehi, he's been consistent. McArthur, consistent. Even players like Schlupp and Kouyate...even if it's consistently 'okay' at least it's consistent. Wilf can be magical one moment, then completely invisible and petulant the other.

In terms of the OP, I can't see anyone taking him for decent money now. He's probably worth more to us over the next couple of seasons than we'd recoup....I'd say he's finishing his top flight career with us now.

And a good job too. How many points has his goals given us this season alone, let alone his rejuvenated attacking play? We may have missed out on a big fee but then we could have been tempted to have done another Benteke and overpaid for a just-not-good-enough player.

Instead we have budgeted wisely and look who we've got - Guehi, Eze, Olise, Anderson, Mateta, Édouard (the last one is particularly worth persevering with. This boy has got skill). Most of these are worth quite a bit more than we paid.

Given where we are now in our development as a PL club, PV stays & we have another good transfer window (perhaps bringing in 2 or 3 good players to strengthen the squad) to me, providing no one comes in for him with an exorbitant offer he would absolutely be better off signing another 2 year contract & staying.

Although I’ve never thought that he has been champions league level/worth £80 odd million, like some on here have suggested.
But with Viera as manager and Gallagher going. We need to keep him and add a few.
It’s a decent balanced squad, in my opinion , with no stars , so I’m not expecting anyone to go. Not like when AJ was at least twice as good as everyone else and eventually had to go.

Wilf is and has always been worth more a hell of a lot more to us than any club is willing to pay!
He has just enjoyed a fabulous season and whose to say he won't have a better one next year?
If we manage to strengthen the squad in the right areas over the summer there is absolutely no reason why Palace cannot mount a stronger campaign next season.
He's a wise and canny operator now so if we can find a quality proven goal scorer to work alongside him in attack, together with a direct CW replacement there is no reason why I think he wouldn't want to stay at Palace.
Certainly for the time that PV is around. I certainly enjoyed watching him this season!

One of the reason for Wilf's good season is the form of other creative players such as Olise and Eze. Instead of the opposition focusing on him and marking him out of the game they now have to contend with other match winners which gives Wilf more space.

Unfortunately this could be said of better teams and I am sure Wilf has noticed. Were he to go to Arsenal or City I am sure he would have a great season for that reason.

Just hope he stays.

For the first time since Wilf rejoined us, we are a team on an upward and improving trajectory. In many ways and considering the benefits to him of being here you have to question why he’d want to leave.

1) he is paid fantastic money, more than anyone else in the team.
2) his family are settled in the area and he has his group of friends outside football on the doorstep too.
3) he never settled at Utd so what makes anyone think he could settle elsewhere.
4) he is guaranteed to start for Palace when fit. He is not going to get that anywhere else.
5) he knows he is the fan favourite and I’m pretty sure he likes that. Again it is unlikely he’d get that anywhere else.
6) he has a great opportunity to move forward as the teacher and role model to the up and coming players at Palace. You only get that sort of respect when you are the legend that he is within a club. He would be pretty much an impact player at a top club and probably wouldn’t be given that senior statesman acknowledgment or responsibility.
7) is playing European football really what it’s cracked up to be? ( Rangers got to a Euro final ffs). He is already playing in the most competitive league in the world and most European games are played against teams that would barely scrape into the PL. it’s only really the top couple of teams in Spain, Italy, Germany and France that are competitive against Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea. Why give up regular football for half a chance of half a game against Real Madrid once in your lifetime.

In short I think he would be foolish to leave. He should become the Le Tiss of Palace and wallow in that.

I hope Wilf reads that, prints it out and puts it on his wall.

Problem with Zaha is that he has always been far more valuable to us than he has to any other team.

We could have got £100million for him at one time or another and still not spent all of that and adequately replaced him/his impact.

That stock is not as high as it used to be but for Wilf and us the situation is very much the same. Firstly, if he goes, he's not going cheap and ultimately no team will pay above the odds for him. United tried that and it didn't work, at least he trailblazed there.

For all the reasons many have mentioned including that excellent post from Eaglecoops the best choice is for him to stay, for now anyways.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
