I was there last night. Everton employ a small army of stewards. All of whom just let the initial pitch invasion happen and by the final whistle they had given up any semblance of control. PV had to walk the width of the pitch to get to the Palace dressing room and he was not provided with any security support. The fan that approached him was breaking the law by being there, so if PV has any disciplinary action taken against him then there has to also be consequences for Everton FC. I totally get the passionate reaction from the Everton fans, but this was not a case of a fan(s) celebrating a famous victory, this was the deliberate provocation of the opposition's manager who was left - shamefully - in a vulnerable position. I dread to think what could have happened if we had won the game.

I am thinking Medieval punishment. Everton fan spending time at Selhurst Park handcuffed to the back of the net that Palace are attacking for a few games.

It is illegal to enter the playing area and we have no idea what the intentions of that fan are. I hope PV does not get charged and fights it if he does. Who knows what the fan was calling him... Get in there. f*** off.” All while jumping around like some sort of inexplicably aroused frog, with his phone and flipped bird aggressively hovering about an inch from Vieras Moon. Can't think many people would have simply walked off and not snapped. Rages me even now just thinking about it. Get him banned Edited by SW19 CPFC (20 May 2022 10.37am)

I have zero problem with players or managers/officials defending themselves. This idea that you have to be a 'Billy Sharp' because someone will object otherwise is nonsense.

This is similar to the glory hunting bellends after the semi final but not actually able, ready or willing to fight. If you want to goad people then either don’t be surprised if you get a clip, or go off and find the same kind and have whatever this new sort of disorder really is because I don’t understand it.

I was both appalled and horrified to see the two pitch invasions last night and I don't blame Patrick for having a go at that idiot. Blatant, aggressive, provocation. Imagine what might have happened if we'd actually beaten them. Doesn't bear thinking about.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Here's a view from different angle [Tweet Link]
Fully support Vieira here, those fans should not be on the pitch in the first place and cannot expect to behave in that way without taking accountability for any response. BTW he's still quick, great move!

If our players had had some of Vieira's balls we wouldn't have lost three nil in the second half.
