If so why are we offering contracts to players well beyond their ‘use by’ date? Not one of the players there do I have any dislike or contempt for but as I’ve said numerous times we seem to be keeping ahold of our fair share of deadwood atm. Makes the team look remarkably unbalanced with plenty of fresh faces amongst the no longer useful antiques.

A good move for both the team and for him. He gave us great service early on and although his production tailed off the last few years he still could put in a good game every so often when needed. Just no longer consistent enough. Wish him well at Olympiacos. Edited by redshift (21 May 2022 6.20pm)

I can't believe we're so eager to keep Ayew for another year. Our forwards have been our biggest problem for years now. We bought Edouard, and he has done nothing, and can't even see the pitch ahead of Benteke. Ayew is barely useful as a sub if we are winning. He's good at possession and drawing fouls, that's it. So why in the world are we bringing him back?? Benteke and Ayew should be gone. Edouard should really be sold too. He's shown absolutely nothing to indicate he'll be a difference maker for us.
