Not so as there is rarely a mention of Brighton on HOL without homosexuality being mentioned but of course that will be dismissed as just being banter Oh behave!

Of course there are cases I never said there wasn't but I think people and that includes football fans are far more accepting than they were. It suits the media to play certain things up so one idiot verbally slurs a player at a game and football is awash with racism or homophobia etc. Pick your media viewpoint which is often contradictory within the same organisation: 1. The UK is one of the most tolerant countries in the western world. People can be openly gay in this country and it is largely a positive experience. Or 2. The UK and Football in particular has a major problem with hate crimes and it is not safe to walk the streets if you are gay.

I do understand the thinking behind a lot of the statements however I don't think it relative here, as it stands. I don't like the politicisation of such things to any extent, especially football. If this lad's announcement leads to players 'bending the wrist' for a moment before games, claims of him being discriminated against when he's subbed/carded or anything else, a 'bring a gay friend to the Palace day' or rainbow flags infesting stadiums then yes, there will be some sincere grievances raised from me. However, I do not see it as such, as things stand. He's a young fella, still technically a child on the brink of adulthood, and if he chooses to announce he is who he is to get it off his chest, live his life healthily and so forth well then the best of luck to him. Another possibility is him not saying anything, being deeply unhappy and something tragic happening such as topping himself or living a sad life outside of football etc. My hope is that this blows over quickly, people don't become so inclined to abuse him horrendously from the stands, I'd happily see any good humoured teasing but that's probably a crime these days, and he goes on to have a career valued on his footballing merit as opposed to identity without any real abuse. I think jumping on it to express, via a glottal stop, 'Arghaahhhah, they're taking over football' or so called 'movements' hijacking it to try and promote their own bonkers ideologies would be a tragedy for the youngster and the game. Hasn't happened yet so I'm therefore inclined to say fair play, good for him, now let's move on. Edited by Nicholas91 (17 May 2022 10.06am) 'pal' please

'Bring a pal to Palace' was a club promotional thing at one point.... I know, I seem to recall the two Ronnies taking advantage at one point! I just didn't think 'bring a gay pal... to the palace' sounded correct however. In any instance, a very minor detail which whilst vulnerable to pedantry is still noteworthy when not the first time in a short period.

The feminisation of Britain is already underway so I wouldn’t count on nauseating effeminate pro-gay stuff not being forced into the game. there is nothing Feminine nor soft about Alexander the Great. The veteran of dozens of battles, he was injured by every weapon known to antiquity. The original hard b@stard. but i do share your sentiment. I frown upon homophobia, but also frown upon the modern Media shoving LGBT in my face at every opportunity.

Just Alexander himself. Defo a gayer. But more accurately described by a Dutch word i heard rumour of....translates to a 'brawl-niece'......a gay bloke who is always up for a fight. The politicisation of LGBT has become rather tedious. Surely what people do in the privacy of their own bedroom is their own business and really who cares anymore ? i reckon all this rainbow stuff is Government's planned managing of open-borders with the Third World. The Brits are not really homophobic, in international terms. The Brits never needed all the rainbow stuff. Other countries ( & their people) certainly do need to learn about tolerance. They kill gays in those countries. Both the State and Joe Public on the street - all persecuting gays. And Holy Books with homophobic verses.....on sale at your nearest street corner. The Rainbow brigade must surely focus their efforts at the worst offenders ? Edited by PalazioVecchio (17 May 2022 8.18pm)
