As astutely observed I also think this is a fabricated story in terms of realistic interest.

He's an excellent tackler, if flawed going forward.

His is way over-priced, both when we sold him and even now at half the price.

In my view the bulk of our spending for next season needs to go into midfield.

What about a swap with Wilf, as his contract is running out, Man Utd will be in some Europe competition so he can have his dream.

You never disappoint, Rodney/Shakespeare

AWB was a star for us and in the early part of his Man Utd career he was great. Once United started to fall apart so did his performances. Personally I just question whether he has the character to be a big club player as I think he has the ability. If the new manager comes in and puts his arm around him and tells him he trusts him then he'll shine next season. I think he'd be great back at Palace and I would be more than happy to see him back.

Having said that, the only way I see him coming back to Palace is on loan, but even then it probably depends on whether Ferguson can ever stay fit (which looks increasingly unlikely). In terms of buying him, would United really take less than £20m+ for him and would Palace really pay that much for a full-back? I doubt it. Clubs our size only really spend that sort of money on creative players.

I tend to agree. He is probably worth £20m - 24 year old with over 100 games for United.

But feels more than we would pay for a full back. When there will be lots of other cheaper options. He'd make us better, but doubt he'd have the impact of a 20m midfielder.

Should have tried to get Livramento at the same time as Marc G, was a snip at 5mill. And a Croydon boy.

A cracking start to his career but his progress seems to have stalled of late, struggling to win his place back from Walker-Peters (who was another player who would probably have improved us for a minimal outlay).

Edit: just had a quick check and Livramento has done his ACL and could be out until 2023.

Not possible . Self awareness not your strongest suit, old son.

ultimately it largely comes down to price and value. We don't *need* him so certainly no reason to pay out the nose.

However he was exceptional for us, is still young and whilst everyone is screaming and shouting about how ruined Man Utd are, how they're the worst team in the world and a laughing stock, the fact is he's still the starting RB for a team who have won twice as many games as us and was in with a credible shout of a Top 4 finish, boasting players like Pogba, Ronaldo, etc.

If we were talking the 20m mark, I'd bite UTD's hand off personally.

Yeah he'll be out for a long time with that one.

But shows that even in this age of crazy money, if you are prepared to take a risk with kids there are some amazing value transfers out there. £5m for a 19 year old that has started 28 prem games this season.

I can only presume we didn't go in for him as we were putting our chips on Ferguson.
