Don't agree at all i expected more than 14th with the investment, it will be interesting which dross players are given new contracts if the funds are not there to buy

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Edited by Rudi Hedman (21 Apr 2022 1.31pm) My cerebral matter certainly has recall issues going back a few weeks but I am of a certain vintage ! On a specific point, I was in conversation with a whole raft of people, both supporters and others, and the concensus was genuine concern about our propects this season. My expectations did not lead to a Top 10 finish but I am of the opinion that the 'Direction of travel' is in the right direction. Edited by Willo (21 Apr 2022 1.55pm)

Although, a win Monday would be nice and reassuring

lets see where we are halfway through next season then we will see if we have gone forwards or backwards

I believe that a home defeat against Leeds will lead to a degree of disquiet amongst our support base even though they have won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 4 games. Well this season is going down the pan completely, it is clear to me PV is out of his depth, he achieved that was wanted at the beginning, attracted the players, since the Arsenal game we have gone down dramatically, poor selections, woefull subs, a bias towards African players, The "wonderful" Gallagher 17 games since an assist, our best passers, Eze, Hughes and Macca sitting on the bench, a CF that cant play the position, not a sign of any U23 players on the bench, over 70m spent and a worse position the Roy's team, who couldn't field enough players to fill the bench, wake up PV is a naïve, novice manager who hasn't a clue You have to remember what he took over. We had about 13 senior players and were favourites for relegation. We will end up around mid table with an FA Cup semifinal. Verdict: Succesful first season for Viera.

Instant success is never the result. For a transition season, where SO much was required to change - players, managers, coaches, Playing style, integrating new playing staff, this has been more than successful.. bordering on miraculous. More development is required, and expect more new players to continue this. I was going to say that next season there is pressure to perform, and top 10 should be the target, but in actual fact, a lot more work is needed. More playing staff need to be brought in an integrated, and moreover, we need to hold on to what we've got, or else the transition period will be prolonged.

Edited by Willo (21 Apr 2022 2.13pm) Yes I believe so. Would be a shame as it would take the gloss of perhaps not a glorious season but certainly one far better than I had anticipated and with far more promise than I usually hold. On the plus side, I had been in hospital most of last year, and recovering at home since. My season ticket has been put to good use of course but Monday shall be my first time watching this 'new-look' Palace live. I shall enjoy it no matter what! I may even treat myself to an absurdly over-priced and worryingly dubious 'meal' at SP. Another 10 months in the hospital will be worth it! COYP
