The standard King James bible is a modern work. I don't see believing in the divine requires a belief in the current bible. I don't see how something can come from absolutely nothing, similarly, the concept of infinity is a mind bender, as is the universe being all there is. When you get to the end of it .....etc etc
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Well, this thread went quite well. I must say that I do find it interesting that given the huge amount of available information regarding the formation and origins of Biblical text that some people still believe in the literal descriptions in it. Regarding Easter, the resurrection story was added on many years after the basic story was written. None of it was from eyewitness accounts. Historically, Christianity was obviously used as a political tool, but that was not about faith. The faithful seem to have the capacity to block out reason in favour of wishful thinking. This is a fairly common human trait. I wish the faithful, the agnostic and the atheists a happy Easter.

God is God . Whatever name you put to him is no matter ,each society has its own name for him . So do I believe Christ is the son of God ? Yes but then I believe we are all sons of gods . Jesus sounds like he was a nice bloke and if nothing else has given many people an insight into the history of man for without people of faith hardly any of it would have been written .

The origins of the New Testament are fascinating, starting with the council of Nicea in which Emperor Constantine tried to codify what Christianity was. The New Testament itself was not locked down until 300 years later with some books being included then rejected and then included others were in then finally out whilst some never made it. In short the bible maybe the word of God but mankind had a big hand in it and skewed it for its on purposes. The Gospel of Mary Magdalene being one of the rejected books which gave woman a far more prominent role in the life and death of Jesus. Do I believe no, although I do believe there was an anti Roman political agitator called Jesus who was the Martin Luther King of his day.

The files coming out in 2027 may interest you. MLKJ is more myth for whites than anything used in the mainstream of black politics anymore.
