Corrr, what a funny, pathetic & nit picky article. Made me chuckle. Not sure why this geordie hates us but a lot of meandering nonsense Honoured that my quotes made his dross rambling article. However, he has conveniently left out a sentence to suit his narrative. The Toon loon seems to have missed the point of the banner and instead goes on about how large their support is compared to ours - which everyone knows anyway. The away game next week is a dead rubber for both teams, it's a lot of money and time off to travel up and I can't imagine there are many Palace fans outside of SE London/Surrey. Good effort on those who are making the trek. The way their fans celebrated receipt of the blood money was shameful and they can enjoy their hollow success along with Chelsea and City. Great to oust Mike Ashley, but at what cost? -is this honestly better? If we can ever win a cup it will mean so much more. At least the likes of Manure and Liverpool have earned their right at the top through sustained periods of success on the pitch. Newcastle are a club I used to admire.

Unless we are assuming PL survival is the marker of success for Newcastle... which actually it may well be. Do love the fact of 'how large their support is compared to ours' - I was under the impression that South East London and a few surrounding areas, with other professional football clubs in close proximity, in the same city as Chelsea, West Ham, Tottenham and Arsenal etc, was of far greater pull than almost the entire North East save a few stray Sunderland, perhaps Boro and the ubiquitous Manure fans I like Newcastle, quite genuinely, but I do feel sorry for them in a way. I really can't see this working out too well for them. They've always had a good soul as a club and fanbase but that has been sold for blood money. I look forward, if in the event any success does actually come their way, to seeing hoards of international and 'tourist' fans replace the seats of your average working class Geordie at St. James' Park whilst they face the threat of liquidation and at best a severe plummet should their cash pipeline be withdrawn for a number of possible reasons. But, to be fair and honest, at the end of the day, I actually don't give a monkey's! I prefer to concentrate on my own club as opposed to others and que sera sera for everyone else. COYP
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

A very low-brow diatribe. An article that begins with an oxymoron gets little credence from me. "Or at the very least a very sizeable minority of the Crystal Palace fans."

Its that poorly written its a wonder it even got published . Talks a lot about attendances when at the same time says Newcastle is 100 miles away from their nearest premier league opponents . Did it not dawn on him thats probably why they fill their ground every week ? Not that we dont of course with 7 clubs within 50 miles . Still ......Newcastle is a great away game , one of my favourites that normally turns into a weekend bender (Im getting a bit old for all that now but the spirit for it is still there ) The fans are great ,the bars are great . The grounds OK though we are normally up in the gods which is a bit naff.
