If CG were to come on the market any bid we made would be bettered by any number of other moneybags suitors. That's reality.

Correct, and if there is a buy out clause in his contract ( does anyone know?) and we meet it the player will have a big say . obviously money talks and a footballers career is short, then he has to make as much as he can and if Spewcastle offer him 200k per week then id say goodbye to him and good luck. He doesnt come across as greedy . I could be wrong . Hope not .

My take is that Chelsea has two questions to answer. First, do they want Connor for the long run, and second do they want him immediately? My guess is that the answer to the first question is, right now, "yes" and the answer to the second one is less clear. If he's in their first team plans for next season then the answer will be "yes", bring him back now". If, on the other hand, he's seen as a fringe player for next season who's still a year away from being a full-time first-teamer, then the answer will be "not sure", in which case they might conclude that his development into a first team player is better served by another productive loan. And there's nowhere better to do that than Palace. I'm sure Connor himself would agree. Further, I would guess they probably haven't totally decided where he would fit in next season yet, and they probably won't until June/July. Taking all of the above into account, I'd say the chances he'll stay at Chelsea next season are probably roughly 50% right now. The chances that he'll come to us for another year's loan are probably around 20%. And the chances that Chelsea will sell him outright are less than 15%. If they do simply sell him, I'd say we have at least a shot at getting him although I'd imagine Spurs, Arsenal, and Man Utd would all be in with a bid. West Ham and Newcastle doubtless would too, but I'm not worried about them. You suggest that they want him for the long term but maybe less clear for the now.

I guess it will depend on if they want to bring in more money or improve the quality of the team. It is any one’s guess but regretfully I am not hopeful we will see Gallagher playing for us next season but you never know we may end up unearthing another gem from somewhere else.COYP

The only reason that Chelsea would sell him to us rather than a rich club who'd easily outbid us, is because Chelsea thinks he would help us HURT some of their competitive rivals. As a member of the England squad, though, Conor is surely a player whom TT and the new ownership group would want to see wearing a Chelsea kit.

I still think Gallagher would struggle for playing time at Chelsea next season. Starring for us is different than being a productive regular in one of the top sides in the world. The same could be said for Zaha. I know professional footballers want to play with the best, but at the same time, there's something to be said for being a legend at a regular club, rather than sitting on the bench of a big six club. As long as the money is comparable.

If I were Chelsea, and I didn't currently need CG on the pitch, I'd be thinking another loan spell with Palace. I wouldn't want his meteoric rise in skills and ability (and value) playing week-in week-out at Palace to suddenly stop with him sitting deflated and angry on a Chelsea bench. What would CG's value have been today if he wasn't at Palace? I think another loan deal is a win-win for both clubs and that's what I predict.
