Tayo will be in the Irish team soon enough - if not already. I didn't look at any announcements by them. Kenny picking all youngsters in general. It's an interesting experiment to see how it will pan out in the next few years.

He's still in the U19s.. thought he might get bumped to the 21s following his debut at club level, but unfortunately not.

O'Brien is with the U21 and that Phillips kid is with Tayo in the U19s

Some real prospects in the Irish set-up for the first time in years - 4 or 5 youth players have signed contracts in Serie A with big sides - should be a decent looking national side in the next 5-10 years.

Is there any credence in the constant blogging that any Palace player who puts his head above the parapet immediately has a swarm of the rich clubs circling for his signature?

The Olise gossip has been rife for some time. The moment Mitchell gets the England nod, suddenly a few of the rich boys are competing for him too.

Somebody recently posted elsewhere that inter-Premiership transfers are quite unusual these days as the cost is so high. I suspect the management will place a price of around £60m on Mitchell and £80m on Olise to scare off suitors.

However, I have a feeling that all of the linked clubs have expressed positive comments towards those 2 but none have approached nor will they. I suspect it may be done to unsettle the players, see whether their agents bite. Beating the ground but no more.

Of course, the ploy may work, especially with Olise who has no history with us. If a player has their head turned and wants to leave, they will leave if the right terms are offered a la AWB.

For my part, I suspect this is a repeat of the ongoing Zaha story. Indeed, I would put more money on not only Olise and Mitchell still being with us this time next year, but on AWB rejoining at RB (for a lot less than we were paid).

Far be it from me to hold players back, but the hype around players called up by England is preposterous.
Mitchell has had more publicity in the last few days than he has had in his whole career.
None of this is his fault and much of the coverage is cribbed from an interview on our own Palace Player.
All of a sudden everyone from Man City through Chelsea to Tottenham want to sign him when they were not linked previously.
Is an England call up really that significant?
Facing the facts, he has only been called up because of significant withdrawals in the full back position and would not have had a prayer otherwise.
This is not to discredit him.
He’s had a very good season so far, appears to have a down to earth approach and is a consistent performer.
He has great potential, but in reality has only been selected because of the dearth of options.
I hope the hype dies down.
It’s his first full season in the Premier League and playing week in week out for Palace is surely the right approach at this stage of his development.

If Tyrick has any brains he will see what has happenened to AWB, you cannot get regular international starts siiting on the bench, he deserves a new contract with a salary befitting his new status, No relase clause, if we just let Ayew, McArhur, Kelly, Tomkins and Jach go at the end of there contracts, thats about 200k a week saved, Luka, Benteke and Jairo although they have a year left, another 250k saved even if we let them go for free, that money should go to enhanced contracts to Guehi, Mitchell, Olise and Eze.

Pretty sure that pretty much everything Olise stems from one article in the Sun - we're not even in silly season yet.

Some context here is that Raphinha who has played - and starred for - the Brazil first team has a similar profile to Olise. The kid has less than half a season in the prem. From this point of view the Zaha parallel is overstated imo. When Wilf was leaving every season he was generally taken to be the best non top 6 attacker in the league. We're not in that territory.

Feel certain any number of clubs regret not having picked him up for 8 million but that is another question altogether. Gone are the days when most any approach from the likes of Arsenal or Spurs would mean us losing a player to their system. A greater danger nowadays would be a high profile club from Germany or Italy that could offer him first team football - which we can do too of course.

I believe Jairo has 2 years left on his contract.

Also who do you think will replace the 8 players you want the club to offload? I can accept that there may be a couple of possibilities in the Academy but I will be surprised if we have another £60m+ to spend on replacements for the others.

I suspect of those you have listed, Ayew may well be offered an extension and Jairo and Luka will still be with us. Additionally, we don't know what will happen about Kouyate and Clyne whose contracts are also up, I believe, this summer.

But it does happen as with AWB. Let's face it, that was a £50 million early Christmas present from an incredibly poorly run mega club.

I cant think why you think any of the players that contacts end need replacing apart from Clyne, Jairo and Luka we should get enough to buy a couple of Hughes type players, and i dont think i have to say any more about Benteke, Extending his contract along with getting rid of Murray and Jedinak are Parish's three worse mistakes

Because, otherwise we'd have a very small first team squad of 17 players plus the couple of Hughes types you think we might buy. Our Academy doesn't yet have the quality needed to compensate for your proposed offloads. Basically, you're proposing that we weaken our bench next season by filling the spare places with untried youngsters - even Rak-Sakyi and Adamarola, as promising as they may be, are yet to be deemed ready for regular PL exposure by PV and his team.

But don't forget we also have 4 loan options, my priority would to get the high earning non regular starters off the books, and make sure the highly sort after players have watertight contracts, 450k a week is still a lot of money and our payment amounts are lopsided.

it doesn't make sense to have Olise, Guehi and Mitchell combined on the same money as Luka.

I think that we'd be open to a large bid for Mitchell. 40m+ and I think we'd be considering it.

As mentioned in other posts, we are at a stage in our clubs development, that we can be easliy classed as a 'steppingStone' club ala Saints about 5 years ago!

To Lose Mitchell this way and now would be galling, but in actual fact we appear to have a ready-made replacement in Adaramola, who is about the same quality as Mitchell was when he came on the scene. With Hannam waiting in the wings and Jario and Schlupp able To cover LB also.

So long as we reinvest the Money - and reinvest wisely, then that is the route to improving the overall squad.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"
