How else do you decide what a proportionate penalty is other than comparing it to a disparate offense? That's fundamental to how a justice system works.

Again, Antonio is not claiming racism exists in this case, just using it as a comparison.

Ten years ago John Terry was fined £220,000 and suspended for 4 games for insulting Anton Ferdinand despite being found not guilty in court.
Not to defend John Terry but there’s a comparison.

There are a lot more people in prison for racist crime than animal cruelty. What a surprise that a footballer didn't know what the f*** he was talking about.

Hopefully without sounding too pompous but the way a society treats animals under their care goes some way to illuminate its moral compass (within reason).

Many years ago, visiting Israel I saw a young Arab boy outside the old city of Jerusalem violently hitting his donkey on the nose with a stick (presumably to 'train' it to be obedient). It was so cruel I had to intervene and nearly caused another intifada with the locals. That is how they see animals. We try not to.

There was no need to mention racism,he introduced it as get out card on Zouma's behalf.Your first sentence is wrong you wouldn'ty compare littering with rape,a judge looks at previous sentencing for a "s i m i l a r" crime. If you are a student you need to attend lectures far more frequently!

I think even his solicitor was hesitant with that one.

Yes, and you are the one who raised the race card.

It's almost like some people are ready to pull it out at every opportunity.

Given we're discussing what Antonio has said I've no idea how you've concluded that I raised race in the conversation.

Your second sentence is wonderfully ironic.

I would argue that whilst you have a point in terms of what is tolerated that merely adds the notion that football is utterly corrupt and beyond saving. I am not a football fan but rather a Palace one and have nothing but contempt for the institutions, and the wider culture it has created, around the sport.

But cruelty to animals is a sign of a person being toxic. They need shunning and it speaks of a far deeper malignancy in a persons attitude. Which I believe is reflected in the wider revulsion.

Well put - I broadly agree.

Why mention Antonio at all since what he said was totally moronic and self serving.

It was easy to predict that some idiot would mention racism in relation to this and that SSN would run with it all day.
It was also easy to predict that one of the handful of usual suspects would highlight his words on here.

Race baiters alert.

But Dagenham and Redbridge have suspended his brother. At least one East End club have some morals, hope they don’t have to defend a racism charge

I think the more pertinent question is does that into consideration all 9 lives?
