I can see him coming for Luka as a defensive midfielder purchase? And how about Reidewald and Kelly going in that direction?

Sounds good to me! Maybe he can take Benteke off our hands as well.

Slightly concerning.

I expect Newcastle to buy their way out of trouble and now Roy is at Watford I think they will fight their way out of it.

I hope we don't get dragged into it we could do with some back to back wins.

I was thinking the same thing. Our games coming up against Norwich, Brentford and Burnley are going to be crucial. We look safe at the moment and nobody is tipping us for relegation but failure to win any of those games could put us in a very precarious position.

Looking at the table Watford have lost 14 games, with a goal difference of -17. I would expect Roy to plan to turn those losses into draws using his defensive experience. If achieved then maybe the players will start to feel more confident. I don't know Watford's budget, but I think it is highly unlikely that they will be able to make any quality signings, no player will go want to go to a team second from bottom to play Royball. The season is half done, I genuinely doubt Roy has the time to do his stuff with the games left.
His best bet is to pick up the draws (can't see them going on a winning streak) and hope the bottom group stays close enough to give them hope. A real tough ask, but maybe they are planning for next season in the Championship. I have a feeling that is Burnley's plan too - go down, get the payment, and regroup.

Watford have 18 games left.

If you look at how Roy did in his first 18 games with us you'll see he got 5 wins and 7 draws.

This would take Watford to 37 points, that might just be enough, but it'd be close.

But, didn't start well, only 5 points from the the first 8 games.

I don't think he has the luxury of a slow start this time, pressure might tell.

... what

Roy is a very experienced manager and I feel Roy Ball was a result of the lack of investment and age of our squad. We really do not know how he would have played if he had been given money to spend.
We also don't know which of the signings were his and which were thrusted on him. He clearly didn't fancy many of them because he never played them. The only exception was Eze.

I don't think it is good news for the other sides in the relegation zone as he will have the side better disciplined and a much stronger unit

It looks like he's going to sign a 6 month contract today. It's clearly expected to be a short term fix.

Watford supporters giving the news a mixed reception, but Simon Jordon's approval was well received. Although one bloke didn't think so, saying about Roy 'he's crap, we're crap, we're going down'.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

At least Roy Hodgson's 'Anti Football' will be an improvement on what Watford normally serves up. He's also going to the dirtiest team in the League.

Roy’s last game at Selhurst could see his team getting relegated. Hopefully

Indeed, and as I suspected, Ray Lewington will be joining him.
Lewington is of course a former Watford manager.Watford's first game is away to Burnley and it was Lewington who signed Sean Dyche.

He is going to have to win a few too. Even if they draw all their remaining games that will only take them to 32 points.
