The regular bookies and the football authorities do have a process for suspicious bets but that only works with the big name companies. If there is a betting syndicate in Asia they may well fly below the radar. You say this Badger, Arsenal are under investigation into suspicious betting . . . [Link]
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

He was a walking red at the time and was at it every match. I rarely bet but had even thought of it myself. I'm just presuming that was the incident.

You were right. Even if the penalty had not been given, you could not have it taken for sure that we would have equalised. So this wrong decision didn't cost us a point, it just took away our chance to get one. Regardless of this I've hardly ever seen such a wrong decision concerning pens especially with VAR. ..you obviously missed the offside then.

Perhaps our keeper should have stayed prone and feigned unconsciousness - then Jota might have been sent off for a dangerous challenge. 11 players v 10 players. We could have equalized and snatched a winner.

I’m a (now retired) ref. The offside decision is completely baffling. Here is an FAQ section of Law 11 (offside law) from the IFAB website. [Link] If you read the questions the exact situation that happened yesterday is described and the answer is an indirect free kick is awarded. This situation is much worse than the penalty - that to a certain degree is a matter of opinion - the offside is a matter of fact. For top referees not to know the laws of the game shows a stunning level of incompetence. How can this possibly be allowed to happen?

The only thing I wanted to express that with just a few minutes to go it was not quite impossible that Liverpool would have won anyway. I wouldn`t have pointed that out in case the pen had led to an equalizer or one-goal lead for Liverpool. So as scandalous this decision was the related harm could be just a slightly worse goal difference and not the loss of points.

It was clear Palace were the team going forward, there would be ten minutes to play (with all the stoppage time) and to allow Liverpool a two-goal cushion at that point obviously punched the stuffing out of the team. It really is as simple as that.

Friend's performance brought in mind the notorious Ecuadorian ref, Byron Moreno, and while we're here let's have an honourable mention for the lino, who happened not to notice the offisde and non interference of the Liverpool player for their second goal. Someone must have imagined Benteke offside from an onside position later in the game though. Edited by southnorwoodhill (25 Jan 2022 8.41am)

Does Crystal Palace - the club and the business - simply accept this clear travesty of a team of officials doing everything possible to ensure a victory by the visiting team? Or does it take action like some supporters have done? How difficult would it be to compile a file of all the wrong decisions, with appropriate video clips, in support of a complaint to the FA? Or does the club simply accept having its trousers pulled down and being shafted? I keep hearing that "football is now all about money". Well if that's the case, then surely CPFC has a right to defend its monetary interests.

Italy, knocked out by hosts South Korea in 2002 thanks in no small part to referee Byron Moreno, went on to lift the trophy in 2006. Karma works in mysterious ways. This season the FA Cup is ours!
