My thinking:

Any time you play a top-six club you assume a loss and then try and think of reasons you'll get something out of the game. So, reasons to be optimistic:

1. The absence of Salah and Mane (and Keita) is an enormous plus.
2. Liverpool is playing tonight (Thursday) in a semi-final with what looks like a pretty full-strength team. They'll have more miles on the clock than us.
3. Liverpool has won only two of its last five Premier League games (and one of those was against Newcastle). They're hardly in form.
4. Being realistic, they're out of the title race so likely its the Cups they have to play for to win silverware this season.
5. If they win tonight, I'm guessing there's always a semi-final/going to Wembley buzz which means Selhurst on Sunday may well have a tinge of "after the Lord Mayor's Show" for them.
6. I'm guessing they won't get any decent preparation in for Sunday. After Arsenal tonight and with us on Sunday, I doubt they'll return to headquarters. More likely they'll remain in London, rest and recovery tomorrow, and a walk-through somewhere on Saturday. Our preparation for the game will almost certainly be better than theirs.

OK, Liverpool remain favourites but the set of circumstances above suggest that if ever we're going to have a chance to turn them over, there's a lot in our favour on Sunday. What the hell:

Palace 3 Liverpool 1

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Although I’m confident we won’t get beat 7-0 again, I think it will be pretty comfortable for the red scousers again 1-3

We will give them more of a game than Arsenal did tonight.
They were shocking.

That's for sure. Arsenal are an absolute joke of a club. Absolutely spineless. Terrible recruitment.

Shock! Horror! Lawro has us down for a draw! What's he on?

Having said that, I think he might actually be right and we will get something from the game. I'll go for a narrow win 2-1 to us, though.

The team have got some confidence going into the game with the bin dippers so I gotta go for a 2 - 1 for the boys.

Even a draw is a good point against them.

Ward Guehi Andersen Mitchell

Hughes Gallagher Schlupp

Olise Benteke Edouard

With their current team, their danger is actually their full backs. I'd want Schlupp basically man marking TAA.

Kouyate would walk into this team and Luka is bang out of form which leaves an annoying gap and means Schlupp probably can't play on the left and has to be in the middle 3. Riedewald could be a rogue option but never know what you're going to get with him.

We're going to need to hold the ball up which means Mateta or Benteke start - the Eze/Olise/Edouard combination doesn't work yet and Edouard/Mitchell/Schlupp attacking TAA is an area we may get some joy.

Gallagher is probably going to have to sit back a little bit more because Schlupp will pull to TAA. Fear Robertson and Jota could have a field day on the left - Ward needs a 9/10 performance.

Even with Salah & Mane missing they're such a well run machine. Salah didn't even start last year when it felt like we played alright for a fair bit of the game and every single shot went in.

I would predict a loss as I'm a gloomy so and so. Why I always expect Palace not to win when it's our ninth consecutive season in the Premiership I cannot fathom.

But you never know. We have beaten them when we have been weaker, and they have been stronger. At least Mane can't score against us, as he does with Son-like regularity.

Prefer Ayew to Olise, he is back.
