From recent showings, there isn't a huge point in playing Edouard, until we are back where we were, controlling the ball. Benteke is more effective as an out ball.

If PV thought Olise was ready to start over Ayew I'm sure he would do it. Olise looks unstoppable in the right situations. Away at OT in a tricky game probably isn't one of those.

In recent weeks Ayew has been our best player. He isn't ruthless and doesnt score, but to be fair, not many of our players do.

I think Ayew has a place in certain games such as yesterday as he does work hard and need to defend but i certainly hope in the next 2 home matches Eze starts in front of him and then Olise after if needed.
I am not writing Ayew off but there is a time and place.

Proposing Eze replaces Ayew doesn't make sense to me; two completely different players. If anything Eze's covering and work rate in no way matches Ayew's although clearly he is a tremendous prospect when the ball is at his feet.
This is where the manager comes in, forging an identity for the team with all the disparate elements at hand. I doubt it is easy but we have seen what PV is aiming at. Finding the right balance with this group of players is always going to be tricky, particularly with a couple of key injuries.
Drop Zaha for Eze, he moans too much, even at his own players, a bad influence.

You must be kidding, he is the worst striker in PL, lazy, no floor ball skills, dose not press players, runs around in circles and expects the ball to come to him, lacks vision and pace, never runs in to the 6 yard box attacking the ball in anticipation, never presses opposition defenders/mid fielders when they have the ball and above all misses a hatful of chances every game!

Poor anticipation means he tends to get under crosses more than over, hence many efforts going over the bar. Just to add...

Perfect summing up

I was listening to a podcast that ventured the opinion that Ayew may be our best option for the centre forward position.
This may seem perverse as Ayew hasn't scored in around 40 games.
However, I think the point being made is that he is the most likely of our forwards to press high, making life more uncomfortable for the opposition's central defenders and deep lying midfield player.
This seems to be a requirement for Vieira's preferred way of playing and clearly this is something that Benteke does not do.
Personally I hope Edouard gets a run in the team down the middle, provided we play to his strengths.

Despite my own misgivings over Benteke, I kind of agree with this. Edouard looked out of the game against Manure, but with a firing midfield that can string passes together I would play Edouard all day long.

Overall Benteke would probably suit say Burnley's style of play more than ours, in fact I would be happy if we did a straight swap of him for McNeil.

I could not disagree with this, however, he has not to the best of my knowledge played in PL before joining us from Celtic therefore he needs consistent game time to get up to pace, I would like him to be our first choice striker and then maybe he and Ayew could prove to be a more effective combination in the penalty box and we should just forget Benteke and off load him at the first opportunity!

Think you are not misunderstanding the point. I'm not judging Benteke's all round game. But if Tompkins is going to launch the ball at every opportunity Benteke is the better option.
