What a wonderful thread. So worthwhile. So decent.

So given that, it seems rather sensational to make a big public spectacle of the obvious just so that everyone can look all virtuous and woke. I generally only see it when people post links on here fishing for controversial opinions. The Mail have been doing it for decades. Now algorithms on your social media will search for posts that will deliberately antagonise you, in order to keep you reading for longer. No one watches TV anymore. There was a story posted on here the other day about a trans bicycle repair shop from an obscure magazine. If people started realising how few and far between events like that are, then maybe they would feel less threatend Try cutting out the people who are pushing the stories to get a rise out of you, then talk to the people around you. The majority of people are decent. 1% of crime makes 99% of the news.

Most people just want to get on with their lives, looking after their own. Inevitably, one person's agenda will bring them into conflict with another from time to time. That is life. I speak as someone who wishes to protect his own interests. I'm not interested in baring ill will toward anyone else unless they give me cause.

Sure that's true of 'the left'; its just as true of the right, and I'm sure equally hilarious to each side to witness. To an extent everyone is susceptible to it, but it's certainly far from impossible to achieve a balance for those that realise how little impact we individually have in direction of travel, combined with understanding that a human connection holds less value if that connection is based on arbitrary filters.

Your perpetual view is that black people should 'ignore' even the worst racism, as not to make is worse.. then you display a visceral anger whenever said racism is not ignored. That is your distilled contribution and the centre of your belief. To anger yourself at those on the receiving end of racism and give a free pass to those engaging in racism. This thread, any thread, that is your sole point. You fail to adopt this apparently 'dignified silence' you expect from others, so then why should they? So if you want to talk about who has a brain or not, you might want to display 1% of the level of nuance and thought that people like John Barnes do.

Anyway carry on, carry on. It's pointless engaging in what is essentially someones mantra. Enjoy!

Is it? I never knew that. I thought my opinion was that drawing attention to a tiny problem on a daily basis will only make it worse. I predicted, without the need for too much foresight, that all this would make it worse, and it has. Shock again! Thanks for telling me what I think for the tenth time today though.

I appreciate that, there's mutual benefits for the whole community are achievable by supporting different disadvantaged groups. To resolve challenges that working class white kids are facing, we don't need to ignore or belittle challenges that people from other backgrounds are having. Also, with journalist, they need to find interesting stories. With Covid there's not much going on. A story about a charity bake sale for a scout group in Norfolk isn't going to be as interesting as attempts to level-up for disadvantage people from different backgrounds.

Even to the extent where we make a big deal out of Hungarians being a bit racist. What a shock! Yes, it's almost if is people not exposed to friends and family of other races are more likely to crassly belittle them and their challenges. Ring any bells?

I think on one level I think this is laudable....indeed as is the intent of egalitarianism, but in reality...as with egalitarianism itself I think it's self deluding. Self interest and bias are natural and 'arbitrary filters' will always exist to degrees within each human being regardless of what it's based upon left, centre or right.
