Might have something to do with the 40 million we've spent on it

You are claiming our defense is stronger now compared to the same time last year how so? We have central defenders who can actually run now.

I am writing in the glow of a great result but Vieira impresses me more and more. He talks well to the media, gives a fair interpretation of the game but doesn't get drawn in to loose talk (his remark about new players post Chelsea looks better in hindsight), but there'a no-nonsense 'just get on with it' in his manner and the second half performance at west ham shows the players may be responding to it. Just watched his post match interview and the freeze frame at the end shows PV with a very intense stare - you can sense the determination in him, McArthur spoke of him bringing a winning mentality to the team and PV said it was the forwards changing their mentality in the second half, by working harder to make runs and create space, that changed the game. He knows he's taken on a hard job but his approach is very positive, and our improved possession stats back that up. I'm much more than hopeful we'll do alright under PV and I don't think he'll do a Steve Bruce if the opportunity comes, he needs to build his prem career here first so we'll get min two season out of him if he's successful and keeps us around mid table.

What if arteta gets shown the door. Do you think PV will jump if offered?

It would be pretty s***ty to walk away, letting everyone down. No, I think he has a strong character and wants to build this team, his players, playing his way. Don’t forget he has also bought in a few back room staff to, that’s a lot to disrupt.
In dog beers I’ve only had one. |

I am surprised Arteta is still there but given that their next 2 games are Norwich & Burnley surely they will give him those 2 to get some points on the board, if he doesn't manage that then he really doesn't have a leg to stand on. Originally posted by dreamwaverider

It’s such a long project at Arsenal and risky for a new manager that PV will bide his time. He could damage his managerial career jumping here early and it not working at Arsenal. Could be big club management over within 1-2 seasons of prem management. He’s such a big name and Arsenal will be watching him so much he doesn’t need to. Arsenal would ask him privately if or when they remove Arteta to save any embarrassment from PV turning them down to stay here. He’ll politely say he needs to manage in the pre-K for longer first.
