Wright is the clear choice for me - but I reckon Solako would dramatically improve the current team . Doesn’t get the same level of adulation but was a huge reason for our success under Sir Steve - a brilliant crosser of a ball when running at pace. Benteke would love him!

The funny thing is, you always need an essential quality that some player from yesteryear possessed. But maybe Edouard will surpass all our old goalscorers, maybe Hughes will be exactly what the doctor ordered in midfield. Perhaps these 2 CBs will be the greatest pairing in our history. Perhaps Eze is just starting on his path to brilliance and Olisse too. Exciting times having such a new squad.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

With our lack of wide men, I was considering posting this too. Even McGoldrick.

I think it's fair to say that one never felt any confidence that Uphill would convert even the most gilt-edged of assists. One unbelievable miss at the Whitehorse end in the 60s still haunts me every time I take my seat, nearly 60 years later! Agree about Byrne though.

It must have been bad after witnessing Benteke, Bamford, Sanogo, Stern John and Bruce Dyer, missing, amongst many others and still remembering it.

As far as I can see no-one so far has suggested the mercurial Vince Hilaire. I reckon that, in his prime, he would be a perfect fit with our new, young, flair players.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Given our current line-up, but even regardless of that, the best player ever to pull on a Palace shirt. Kenny Sansom.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |

Yes, he was unmarked on the edge of the 6-yard box, in the middle of the goal. The ball came along the ground from the left wing, he side-footed it and it must have cleared the crossbar by 2 or 3 yards. A friend I used to go to matches with mentioned it to me just a couple of years ago - "Do you remember..........."

I swear Andy Gray once missed one like that, but right under the crossbar and an open goal. It was a miracle of physics.

Bobby Kellard! Midfield Maestro who ruled the centre circle and never gave the ball away cheaply. Would add invaluable experience to our new youthful look
