At least we have the moral high ground, having got rid of Robinson.

I predict an England win The bowling actually lost this match not just the batting. England could not bowl full and swing the ball, NZ are masters at it. Strange as for a period after a ball change our bowlers were all over NZ but they weathered it. So why, even Sir Alastair Cook does not understand it.

That's not "strange"; that's simply how test cricket used to be played, and in New Zealand's case it's how it still is played.

I've said it many times over the years but the level of money paid to the ECB and the standard of cricket produced from it isn't value for money. These guys are simply paid too well for their jobs. There is a softness there....and recent events have shown an over concern for events outside the cricket field rather than the pure meritocracy for success on the cricket field. James Coney, former New Zealand cricketer sums it up well. 'From an outsider's point of view it is very difficult to understand how you can surround yourself with so many coaches, helpers and so many staff and so many facilities and so much money and so many good contracts and perform like that.'

Really why only a 2-match series? I am just up for Joe and the lads to re-group and go again, with some of the established test match players back. NZ are certainly worthy of more as well.

I've been supporting Olly Stone for some time now and while he didn't do badly in this test I was disappointed with his pace. He's meant to be quick....yet he spent much more time bowling around 85 and under than in the high eighties/low nineties. I'm beginning to think quick bowling is becoming unfashionable in England.

Watching Sussex yesterday I was quite impressed with George Garton- left arm quick. He looks to have a bit of bite to his game.
