HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh - an Officer and a gentleman. More than can be said for some of the posters on this thread, unfortunately. RIP Prince Philip and respect for the dead*.

They are piling it on, 'Victoria and Albert' etc. etc. I am sure he would not have wanted the racing cancelled to hear all this mind-bending crawling tosh. A very full life, an asset to the Queen and a very decent guy. RIP Prince Phillip Cannot fault any of that. Suspect he would have been good company at lunch. Surprised at how sad I was when I heard of his passing. A sense of a constant in life gone.

RIP. You've got to feel for the Queen really. Someone by your side through it all for that long, and suddenly gone.

I'm sure they wont mind a similar response when the time for Arthur Scargill, Corbyn et al comes.

Great tribute to the duke by Sinn Feins Michelle O neil, said he and the family paid a big part in bringing peace to the island of Ireland, a significant statement the sky news reporter said, and she added she sends condolances to all those in Ireland who look to the royal family as their people, nice touch in these simmering times in the north.

Not sure mate, it was good leadership either way given the tensions brewing in the north.I don"t think the old hatred is there with the new lot, the queen bowing at the republican memorial in Dublin and wearing green certainly went down well, times moved on, thats why its so important for leaders to do/say the right thing.

I think you will find - Michelle O'Neill is an elected leader of just about the biggest party in the Province. - she was a child during most of the Troubles. - her attempts to show respect toward Prince Philip and his supporters is the only way any progress can happen in Ulster. - as a politician , she is probably no more nor less murderous than Tony Blair, US presidents, or anybody else you mention. I reckon she has never killed anybody. - the peace in the North is very fragile, thanks to people like you. Luckily Prince Philip was more of a mature man than yourself. More noble.
