Must admit, I've got a soft spot for the Sud.
Once had a ride in a brown one with a noisy blown exhaust.
Class!

You didn't live in Bristol in the mid eighties did you?
This was my 2nd car. Fast as...but cost me more to insure than the thing cost.
Eventually fell apart, and went to Alpha heaven (the scrapper).

No, never lived in Bristol and mid 80's is when I passed my driving test. Failed the first test. Was absolutely gutted for about 3 weeks then I got a cancellation (lucky because it usually took about 6 months to get a test) and sailed through in my stepdad's Golf Mk2 GLS...which I treated horrendously. 17 year old driving too fast and inconsiderately. Guilty as charged.

My first car was a 1936 Austin 7. It was a 2 seater sports version called a 'Nippy'. Bought it for £75 with cash I'd saved from doing paper rounds. Sold it 2 years later for £95 after many miles worth of fun. Thought I'd done well. Decent models sell these days for around £5k.

The new owner stripped off the original body and converted it into a 'Special' to race and according to DVLA it's still on the road somewhere.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I wouldn't say it was my dream car, but it is a thing of great beauty, and relatively affordable.

And I own one.

I am of course referring to the Triumph Stag.

Mine was a Ford Prefect 100E with three speed gearbox, vacuum operated wipers and 0-60 in two months which was an upgrade on the Lambretta that had done me for the previous two years

Fabulous. I coveted one - had to make do with a Spitfire!

My best man had a 100E. Those wipers! Used to virtually stop going uphill and then nearly fly off going down the other side.

We had a 100E when I was a kid. My old man somehow let my mums budgie escape and got sent out to look for it (I know) and bought it off his mate down the road for £20 to placate the mother who was raging. It ran for 3 or 4 years.

Jag XK140 no question, so far only ever owned an E-Type but that gave me the taste.

Or the James Bond DB5 that has just been remade (see last weeks Top Gear) has all the gadgets except the ejector seat . [Link]

Not sure on the model, but the blue convertible that Jim Phelps (Peter Graves) drives in Mission Impossible just as he's about to take on another case, is a great looking car.
