Worth noting that the Telegraph has done the same: they had a video piece on "ask the 'British' public" who they sided with - of course limited to filming in London, they managed to interview about 3 (of the 6 or 7) that were certainly (by accent) not from the UK. I think only one of them (ex forces) came in heavily behind the RF.... and yet, you then look at their click-polling within the articles and it's overwhelmingly in support of the RF. They have, of course, disabled all commentary on all of their "Mrs and Mr Markle" pieces. I guess my point is, there's a lot of narrative-rigging around, even among news sources you would expect to counter the Steeley-Grauniad's "off with their heads" pieces. Spot on Dave

Yep completely agree. Most if not all media lies regardless of political side.....they are paid to present an opinion. Often it's a matter of finding the most honest out there....which isn't easy in of itself but can be found in independent journalists...Whose that are honest about their perspective. Even then it's most likely that we are all just seeking out reflections of our own opinions and then fooling ourselves. In the past, one assumed that the influences brought to bear on what we see and read in the media and popular culture are from reasonable people, but on later analysis it emerges that they are often people with limited sense and with absolutely no capacity for objectivity.

In my own personal opinion I think she has been treated badly by the press, on the rest of it how can I possibly judge without being privy to all the facts. The press do seem to revel in treating people badly. Diana had a hard time, even Kate has had her moments. They do it to sportspeople all the time, doubt they will ever learn.

Often it's a matter of finding the most honest out there....which isn't easy in of itself but can be found in independent journalists...Those that are honest about their perspective. Even then it's most likely that we are all just seeking out reflections of our own opinions and then fooling ourselves otherwise. True objectivity is impossible. I've come to realise that in life you do really have to pick a side...but that doesn't mean that you don't self reflect and be fair yourself...just not to a self harming extent. I'm reminded of Mock the Week's Ed Byrne. "Is this the number of times I'd have to punch Piers Morgan in the face, before it stopped being a pleasure and became a duty?"
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

In my own personal opinion I think she has been treated badly by the press, on the rest of it how can I possibly judge without being privy to all the facts. All women who marry big news royal princes get treated badly by the press. Kate got treated really badly too, but it eventually stops. Mrs and Mr Markle ignore or forget that and just focus on Meghan getting it while Kate wasn’t getting it at the same time. I’m not excusing it and I along with millions of people don’t take much notice of it. If they ignore it it goes away. Play the game, give them their baby photos and they’ll leave you alone. What Harry forgets is that the press are crucial to the royal family in keeping them the royal family receiving millions each year of tax payers’ money. The queen and senior royals understand this from experience and crises and the decades since WWII. If this is why he wants out then fine, but please give this nonsense up. She wasn’t singled out. She got what Diana, Fergie and Kate got and didn’t like it. I understand that. Just give up the nauseating me me me and self indulgent pity me act. Some of the young might fall for it but the majority do not, I promise you.

They really should have Andrew Neill interview them individually and then together in the same few hour slot. I’d expect a few ‘‘What we meant was’’ answers, followed by Neill picking it all apart to reveal that they were a couple happy with themselves but unhappy with where they were.
