I bought myself a Dansette record player, but didn't have any records. So I went out and bought "Crying in the Rain" by the Everly Brothers and "Shadows to the Fore" EP which had Apache and FBI plus two other tunes on it. Wore both records out .

Thanks Eagleman. Still haven't got a record player so that's brilliant.

Ah, the Danette, with the red and cream textured vinyl livery. I suppose buying a record player before you have any records is today's equivalent of buying petrol before you buy a car.

mine's an absolute shocker - I should keep it to myself - I was eight years old, always liked a bit of humour and footy of course ... Nice One Cyril by Cockerel Chorus. Please be gentle with me, i'm a bit sensitive about this.

Walk Like A Man by Four Seasons, 1963? (only because my big brother had bought Sherry). Oh yes, one of my cousins from Wood Green claimed to be best pals at school with Dave Clark, so I can be glad all over about that

Little Arrows by Leapy Lee. Possibly the worst song ever written and recorded. But I was only 13 and I developed some musical taste eventually.

It was 1969 when skinheads were fashionable. I wasn't a skinhead but used to like reggae music and bought a number of 45s that were released on the Trojan label. Not sure if it was actually my first purchase but one of my favourites at the time was Liquidator by the Harry J All Stars. My taste in music must have changed rapidly because I remember my first LP purchase was Bridge over Troubled Water. I bought it with my Birthday money in March 1970!

I bought two 45s at the same time. Don't like Mondays by the Boomtown rats and My Sharona by the Knack. There was something very appealing about the sleeve photo for a young lad Edited by Apollofuzz (26 Feb 2021 8.56am) Attachment: MySharonaCover.jpg (18.87Kb)

Every week in the mid to late 70’s, I used to get my pocket money and off down to ‘Our Price records’ or WHSmiths in Bromley to buy two or three singles that were on top of the pops the night before!! Those were the days

Funny you should mention the Trojan label because it was a Trojan I've just loaded on my jukebox that sparked this thread.
