Ask dom why he wanted to get rid of it then,Uber are indeed wiping the floor with the taxi game, but the games over, its a race to the bottom, but has a knock on effect, nobody in their right mind will pay 70k for a new electric taxi, so the game will disappear, taxi drivers will retrain as sparks and plumbers, bringing your game down, and you already told us you have taken a 20& drop in salary, so with lots more plumbers around it can only do more damage - although you do all earn 120k a year so plenty of scope for a decrease! Well yes but think of the tax I'm paying Covering your furlough though, albeit that you didnt claim dividends and screw your books!

a high minimum wage causes unemployment. that, and a 'cash in hand' black market for workers. a minimum wage also encourages employers to replace people with machines. Edited by PalazioVecchio (02 Oct 2020 10.11pm)

Government sponsored apprenticeships is the way forward in my opinion in every trade. More so with Brexit coming up. If the government put up 50% of the salary and in return the business trains them up an sends them on appropriate courses. Within 5-10 years we will have a decent pool of semi-skilled and skilled Labour again.

There are suspicions that the current apprenticeship schemes are being misused by big corporations for MacJobs. As long as that doesn't happen and they are proper skills I am in favour.
