True, but that's essentially the whole party....and the majority of its activists. Corbyn and co slowly ousted the moderates.
Lacked both the ruthlessness along with falling for all that second referendum bulls*** and done their own knees. And now are reaping the rewards. Starmer will now purge them entirely. Has no choice but to smash them. And Momentum either comply, which I suspect they will or have the courage to break away.

Wack A Mole, they will slip back into the background and bide their time, they nearly took control of the country and if they had a better leader they probably would have done. They won't go off and form a party because as I have often said the majority of people in this country will not vote for extremists. They know that the route to power is through a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Too slowly. That is the point. They should have culled them totally. That is the ironic thing about Momentum. They had the opportunity via mandatory reselection of MP's and failed to act. Has no choice but to smash them. And Momentum either comply, which I suspect they will or have the courage to break away. Don't see that myself.

Trust me, whoever is pulling Starmer's strings, and the man is a complete puppet, are far far more sinister than Momentum could ever dream of being. Momentum had their chance, they had their leader and they had the membership. And blew it. Bottled it along with playing into the very hands of those intent on destroying them by refusing to acknowledge the legitimacy of the 2016 Brexit referendum result. If Labour had agreed to abide by the 2016 referendum result, as they did in 2017, I suspect we would be on the cusp of a Corbyn led Government. Might even have it already. But instead with have Johnson. With an 80 seat majority. And all engineered by Starmer.

She tried to put Starmer to the test and she got the bullet. Starmer did not flinch ,bumble or fail to act.

The Red Wall will never be won back by marching for Palestine or insisting men can menstruate. The good people I know in North Lincs for example are more concerned with normal things such as rising crime, investment back in scunthorpe steel, buses across the Humber. RLB basically said many Labour voters were too thick to understand the politics they needed as promoted by Momentum. No one saw Covid coming as it did but that notwithstanding, the current Tory leadership is financially centrist and given the chance will put buses in rural areas, spend on the NHS etc etc. The previous Labour voters who reluctantly voted Tory because of Brexit may well find that they are more aligned with Boris than they thought. I agree with you that Momentum should form it's own party....but it took over Labour instead and no one gives up power willingly. It would take Labour's grass roots to change things and its grass roots support Momentum. From their perspective it would be crazy to leave Labour. They have a genuine chance of power once people have fully acclimatized to their politics as they are the only realistic alternative....then it becomes the new normal. Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

They didn't win but think they did, which is fine. Their free stuff for everyone financial plan was roundly rejected by the electorate. Originally posted by Matov

I tend to agree with you. However, I don't see that affecting what actually happens in the Labour party. Momentum are there for the long term battle. Short term power was a bonus, not a requirement.

All of the current MP's selected under Jezza are of course Momentum disciples. It's interesting to discuss it but the reality is it's very hard to see Labour getting anywhere near power for ten years. I think we are heading for more polarisation between the big cities that will be Labour going forward and towns and country that will be fairly solid Tory. Scotland out of play. If London has another few years of The Khanate people will just leave if they can and move away. The success of working from home will hasten this as companies downsize floor space in London and after a number of years London will not generate enough council tax to pay for local services and grind to halt with poor transport, depleted police and emergency services etc Originally posted by Stirlingsays

Of course if businesses and offices do move out of London followed by a white flight it leaves London firmly in the hands of Labour. This is rather like US cities which are like doughnuts the middles class live in the "burbs" leaving the city to the poor with all the problems associated with inner city leaving.

IMHO London is already in the hands of Labour , your comparison with the US is probably prophetic.I don't agree with "white flight", will be driven more by financial mobility. Originally posted by Badger11
