I'm genuinely sorry you see it that way. If you want to be seen the same way as everyone else, the last thing you should do is divide yourself off with a specific racial description. It smacks of Black power, not a plea for reform. When you add that to the behaviour of some of the demonstrators escalating it to violence and the damaging of statues then those suspicions appear to be confirmed.

It's not about black power in the eyes of many. If yourself, Hrolf and others wish to project that on to it, that's your entitlement. Cocopops aren't racist. Others are.

Very good post from HKOwen. I'm not sure the Premier League understands the nature of this organisation, although all the aggression and lawlessness last week (27 police injured!) really should have alerted it to it. Originally posted by HKOwen
Black Lives Matter is a political organisation with an extreme left wing anti capitalist / anarchic mission statement. In the UK there are two BLM groups, one is closely allied with the Socialist Workers Party. If the PL knows this then the decision to put on shirts is bizarre, if they don't know then shame on them for bandwagon jumping. The irony is BLM is diametrically opposed to the obscene money circulating in the PL. This is akin to PL telling players to wear messages about Palestine or Israel. Nobody in their right mind can be other than horrified by the killing of Mr Floyd in the USA, but the current zeitgeist is any criticism of BLM is automatically racist.

We aren't going to agree on this. Fine. My problem with this can be summed up by saying that I believe that the death of George Floyd was callous, unnecessary, and a clear case of misconduct. Perhaps even murder or manslaughter. However, I do not think that this has any bearing on circumstances in Britain and most certainly should not be used as an excuse to peddle unsound ideas about erasing historical reminders, quasi Marxist, quasi religious ideology or expanding the definitions of racism for self serving reasons. It is all just political opportunism.

Ok, let’s say it is not black power, then what is it. What exactly justifies what is currently on in ignoring lockdown, rioting, causing criminal damage, vandalism, injuring police officers and people of the general public. Why is the philosophy of, accept BLM or you are racist, acceptable? The vast majority of people in this country are not racist and do not want racism in society however there is no easy answer to the problems faced right across the world and we are obviously not just talking black and white. Religious divides still polarise people worldwide. Promoting the problem is good, sensibly outlining your needs is good, protesting is good, but forcing your views on others and expecting unadulterated acquiescence is not going to get you what you want and is divisive when you are actually seeking the opposite.

Many BLM protesters had a banner "silence is guilt" or something to that effect. Well then, the fact those Eskimos in the arctic have said nothing about black lives is a shocking guilty crime on their part then ?

PVA's interview convinced me it was the right thing to do. All the players are trying to do is show they care with people who've been told for generations (by whites, blacks, and others) that they are not as important as everyone else. Absolutely fine with that. We should support people and show we care. Unfortunately, the whole things been hijacked. Social media is storing up s*** by extremist on all sides... Anti-FA and EDL both on recruitment drives, pretty sure all political parties plus Russia and China are stering the pot. Everyones too outraged to see. The extreme left gained a core but lost votes in the North of England, Wales, Scotland. Johnson's Furlough scheme is the most socialist policy ever. Basically they've been f***ed and need to hang onto the Woke and BAME vote. They've called everyone who voted for the tories or brexit Evil... probably not a good way of winning them over. There were unfortunately some BLM protesters in Whitehall who were mindless thugs, everywhere else seemed fine (with the exception of dumb rich kids in Bristol). That inevitably bought out the knuckle daggers.... watching a big battle in a medieval film today made me think that those people have been bread for generation after generation like dogs to hate outsiders and go to their deaths to protect rich people. What weve got it two groups of people belonging to the lowest achieving demographic in schools going out causing problems and catching COVID, whilst everyone else condemns them.... perhaps this is all down to education an poverty.

BLM has a website and collects donations so to me that is an organisation. Philosophies don't need cash Originally posted by Mapletree
Your very first line is incorrect which affects your whole post. BLM is not an organisation, it's effectively a philosophy as with 'Me Too'.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
