Haven't you noticed yet that OUR government sits on its ar$e whilst others around the world react? Let's face it ... we're behind the pace and will be playing catch up when they get back to their offices. Edited by Henry of Peckham (15 Mar 2020 11.50pm)

Every other country doing the correct thing then? Other countries have taken action to protect their citizens. Look at the measures introduced over the weekend. Our officials haven't even turned up for work. My main point is just that and it's plain for all to see. Let's see what happens when they do eventually roll up!

It's looking like the big shut down is coming this weekend for UK - why the delay? part money but they have admitted to wanting 'herd immunity' - I'm no immunologist but the only way you build the right resistance is to have overcome the actual virus or a similar one, apparently it's the same science behind people rejecting organs or skin grafts - twins and family members share actual blood or the same germs so they will have developed immunity to accept or fight off the same stuff, so it's moot how irresponsible the 'herd immunity' management strategy is, some scientists say its totally irresponsible, and they have backtracked, it's difficult but I can't believe public swimming pools are open near to me, and supermarkets are not bagging their bakery goods, may sound petty but when you compare the measures taken in other countries it looks way too lax here - you cannot trust those c*nts in No10 and all the spokes people they've selected or paid off.

It should be about money as well.

very good point re the economy - and these decisions are all about the lesser of various evils so it's silly to accuse the govt of callousness, but some reputable medical experts/authorities are doing that, as far as long term economic damage best way to avoid that may be to tax the best off rather than borrow zillions and get the suffering masses to pay indirectly.

Even if it's a borrow now from the well off and drip feed it back with small tax breaks once we are under control.

those bankers took lots of risks with other people's money, maybe the tax avoiders can finally cough up (no pun intended), we've had 10 years of austerity with the innocent paying for it rather than the guilty, I'm not one of the 'knockers and sneerers who aren't fit to lick the boots of the risk takers of this country' (to quote John Major) … but too few have too much and too many don't have enough so the cost of this has to be paid equitably.
