Don’t know what might happen with Ferguson but something feels wrong with club where transfers are concerned.
We seem to engage in brinkmanship every window and then wonder why we can’t get deals over the line.
I understand that players and selling clubs wait until the last minute too, but surely we can set deadlines too - if the selling club doesn't sell a week before the deadline we move on to another target.
Sheffield United for example have acted imaginatively and cio clouded deals .
It doesn’t look like we’ll even be filling our loan spaces which seems inexcusable as 4 or 5 have gone out on loan including Wickham.
We’re either really hard up or incompetent.

We won’t have enough senior players to fill the squad.

So disappointing. The atmosphere tomorrow will be flat.

Can't say I'm surprised, based on every other transfer window.

Nonetheless, I think Tosun is a really good addition. We've been complaining about not getting a striker for years, and we finally got one. I'm hoping he gives us the same extra boost that Bats gave us last year.

As for not getting anyone else, I imagine the thinking is that we are getting people back from injuries, we managed to get a lucky amount of points already, and we didn't need to blow a lot of money in desperation.

This all makes sense to me not to over reach during the winter transfer window. The problem is, we did nothing to improve our team last off-season, and this coming off-season will be even more pressure to sign younger and better players.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Parish has always been very cautious I think with transfers and it has always been frustrating. We've done some good business where we have paid out - Cabaye, Benteke, M. Sakho, return of Zaha were all flagship signings (Zaha was a bargain but the others we put up good money).

I am clueless about the FFP rules and how that limits us and how our salaries may be making life difficult. but this season was a huge opportunity for us to take a big step up and I think the failure to bring in a quality striker is criminal.

Rubens LC and Batman signed from Chelski over the summer (the right money gets these things done) and holding on to WB another season and it would have been an easy top 10 finish and in with a shout of a lucky top 5 finish (given how poor the usual suspects have been this season rather than me thinking that would make us Liverpool).

The glory of this window is at we didn’t leave incomers to the last minute or even day.
This means we don’t need to sit up anymore

The good news is that for once, we’re not fire fighting this transfer window, however letting both Ferguson and Bowen slip through the net is absolutely gutting. Young players from the Championship is exactly what we need.

I’m no expert, but Ferguson failed a medical over a knee. He’s played 21 games this season. What’s the issue with signing an injured player? Rest him for a few weeks and he’ll be fit soon.

Bowen looks a serious player. I just wish we’d pay slightly over the odds for young players of his caliber. We’ve too much dead wood on big salaries.

In an ageing injury prone squad we’ve let 8 players leave the club (one who’s only been here a few days!!!) and one has come in on loan. How has loaning Wickham out and ending Camarasa’s loan improved the squad? Players like Daley, even if maybe not good enough for the top level yet, at least didn’t have to count in the 25 and could be used in times of crisis. Benteke, and it now appears Tosun, are injury prone. On the plus side I felt this fed up after the last transfer window and look what the squad achieved. Can’t be complacent about relegation

A very disappointing window... but a thought.

Given (??) we are not relegated I can see a lot of changes this summer. Relegation or not I see Roy leaving and finally retiring. This will mean a new outlook on the field hence new players. Wilf will finally be sold (to Chelsea) and we might even get a young RB! Palace will be sold to some wealthy money bags. SP will still be "running the club" Dougie might be replaced, and who knows what else!

But then again I have just got up!

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!
