Just give all terrorists a mandatory life sentence where life means life without parole.

Doesnt matter what our courts order pakistan immigration will turn him back. in principle I like the idea but it is fraught with logistical challenges which I fear are insurmountable. You are correct I wouldn't expect other countries to take our British criminals. In my 2nd paragraph I referred to foreign criminals and not just terrorists. At the moment it seems that many are allowed to stay even after comiting serious crimes and there is no attempt to deport them. For others the process starts once the're released from gaol which seems to take years at our expense and often fails because of their "uman rights". I'm saying start the process at conviction with the assumption that the criminal has to prove why he should stay not the other way round. Edited by Badger11 (03 Dec 2019 8.09am)

Now could be a good time to bring back to the fore the crime of 'Treason', widen it to include 'crimes against the state and it's citizens', of which attempted mass killings or acts of terrorism would be included, and make it a capital offense. Let them become martyrs and go to paradise with their howevermany virgins as a reward, at least no-one else will die by their hand.

The most depressing thing about this whole episode is the reaction of the mans father who was butchered. "Jack Merritt's father David, who says his son would be "livid" that his death has been "used to further an agenda of hate" after the terror attack on Friday" He needs to read these words back until the penny finally drops although I fear it never will with these people. He will happily throw other peoples children on the funeral pyre of fanatical liberalism. He clearly doesn't see that it's the values he's instilled in in son that have put him in a position of danger that ultimately led to his brutal murder.

The public at large have little idea about the extent of this problem.

The father has been very political with his son's death. While I accept that people grieve differently I have to say I find his behaviour very odd. He brought his son up with the same beliefs he has. His son and another are dead with three injured...one seriously. I regard him as completely irresponsible.

Rehabilitation of terrorists is absolutely not my area, but very interested to know what kind of risk assessment was performed and whether the terrorist was escorted at all times.

A good point was raised this morning on a podcast I listened to. Why wasn't there an armed officer in attendance in the room which had terrorists and more than one murderer. The answer is probably " because racism". Apparently the success of rehabilitation for terrorists is also extremely low and this psychopath was the poster boy for the organisation that both of the people that were butchered belonged to.

The causes behind each individual are obviously deep in their background and mental make up. Essentially, it comes down to commitment and what they expect for themselves. To become a terrorist in the first place you'd have to be quite committed and they have a community where many of their beliefs and resentments are mirrored. To even try to change that would be seen as 'them v us'.....which is correct. It can only come from the Mosques....and they would instantly be regarded as Uncle Toms. ....and so the public are left to defend themselves themselves armed with narhwal tusks and fire extinguishers. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.
