You are indeed correct about the Italy/Canada game, I stand corrected & humbly apologise.

TBF (again) I do sympathise with the spirit of your post ie 'surprise surprise' if a clampdown hits England first or hardest.

IMO, I think 'hardest'

I reckon the 2 Samoans that should have had reds against Russia might be the first to be hit very hard. ( pun intended)

Sorry (and yes I'm a pedant) but I think you are now confusing the topic. The 'hitting hard' after the event has already started with the Aussie player getting a 3 match ban. The Samoans may well be similarly punished. What eagleman is talking about is the refereeing becoming more strict.

3 match ban was lenient. It was also handed out before world rugbys statement this morning .
Therefore i think the 2 Samoans may be hit hardest first.
The refereeing and disciplinary sanctions are 2 sides of the same coin.

Well, A red card & deservedly so, I worry about Piers Francis tho after his very similar tackle in the 1st min. I agree the 2 Samoans will prob be cited as I think Francis will, will be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

Easy win for England today, but, why oh why did they gift the USA a cheap try? 10 days off then the Argies.

Francis will probably get cited. 2 weeks at most i reckon.
The yank tackle on Faz was really bad. Max length for that i reckon.
So far so good as far as we go.

As Tonto said to the Lone Ranger after he suggested attacking 200 red indians 'what do you mean we, kemosabe?'

Could be England Wales quarter final. Bit of a coin toss in my opinion. Not sure that Australia are a walkover though.

At least they will learn not to be dicks against the USA rather than a top side.

Clear example of what all other nations call "English Arrogance". A little bit can be good, too much can be stupid.

Particularly pleasing to see the fringe players play so well. World cups are squad games.
