We have no replacements for Tekkers, Wilf, Townsend, Ward, McArthur etc. I can’t lay the blame fully on SP we’ve spent millions on players who have failed to perform at any level. We seem to miss out on young quality players from the championship and the top six and go for 26/27 yr olds with no ongoing development or value. Our under 21 team is borderline pointless, with only AWB being given a fluke chance, so even if we have talent we can’t see it. Apart from Max Meyer who given the correct role will shine, the future shape of our team is dire. Unfortunately in Dougie I don’t trust and I know Roy will keep us up but again where is the forward plan ?. agree, where are the 2 or 3 lower league players who are coming through to warm the bench for a while, learn their trade and come in as and when required? That's what Palace have always been good at yet I'm struggling to think of the last div1 or div 2 player we bought (or were even linked with).

I have always thought this but could it be to do with who your shirt sponsors are ? I don't know perhaps certain retailers only stock certain sponsored shirts. Now we have Puma maybe it will evolve. If not, you are right about the merchandising dept I can’t remember but the profit margins become a factor somehow. I remember the club shop in Allders in Croydon was closed by Jordan because it made a loss. Thing is, I feel having shirts available and sold in a wider area is a worthwhile loss leader when you’re in the Prem. (But unfortunately we’re now losing money and have lost £45 mil plus what we don’t know about yet and the Americans want it paid back. Hopefully they don’t want to damage our survival chances with that until they sell their shares because their shares will become worth n@ff all, unless they calculate that loss might be smaller than the current annual losses mounted up if they use too much of the eventual Zaha cash to evolve the team)

The year before we reported a profit (partly due to Bolaise sell). Wages are high but we can cover them and make money in the Premier league (£150m income v £120m wages). Clearly such high wages leaves transfer funds limited. Allders was shut because we had to pay them rental for the shop space and clearly the cost of this, plus staff wages etc, wasn't covered by revenues generated.

Ok but I don’t go in for this disassociation of operations and transfer fees in a business that survives with transfer fees and transfer business, payments and instalments high on its agenda. Sure we’ll be seeing an end to paying Liverpool millions at some point, but in the meantime we’re still needing to buy players, juggle wages around we’re struggling with and that’s with the US shareholders being owed the full total of the AWB cash sale. The model is really at full capacity and they either have to sell Wilf or invest a little until then. As their asset will be worth so little and the loss so big after relegation it seems they’re prepared to do the sensible thing and give us all a chance of saving our sorry &rses. I agree we should be makin a Palace shirt an impulse purchase in the south east rather than a trip to Selhurst or buying online from cpfc.

To be fair Allders weren't exactly a beacon of how to survive tough trading times. Between them and Jordan advising me on finances, that's a bit like asking would you like your left or right bollock amputated.

not getting a half way decent right back in before the deadline is not only amateurish, it's unforgivable, the Zaha saga I don't blame SP for - we never received an appropriate bid - we could have taken a hit and sold at 70mil but 80 was rightly the minimum and a lot of business hinged on Zaha's sale - but they had plenty of time for a right back, and a striker. I don't go with all those who are already writing off Cahill and McCarthy, too early, and we could do with developing players rather than getting the finished article all the time (apart from Sorloth) but they are competent experienced players of proven quality - I don't think McC is a sick note either, the injuries have come from challenges rather than his breaking down, and he's been fit since October. Ayew gives us back up, he's flaky but he does have genuine technical ability and apart from Wilf and Andros we have no wingers, but we needed better, Sarr who went to Watford we could have got as he can play anywhere across the front three and would partly fill the gap left when Wilf goes. So yes, on a scale of 1 -10 where 1 is prostitution and 10 is voluntary work I'd put us at 7.5 - we really are rather amateur.

The thing is they didn’t even bother getting any cheap right and left backs in as cover just to show that they are trying. Our strikers have been poor for three years!!! And still no effort!!! It’s beyond amateur! How many times can we start the season short of positions. Think this is the year it comes undone. Did the pre season games not give them an idea???

I won't comment on the s**t served up on the pitch but feel the need to highlight the following: Happened agin in the LH today. Spent £30 odd on food/drinks but was told cannot give loyalty points due to an issue but....we will give double points next game!! WTF so basically any money spent yesterday (and last week) the points are lost. Anyone know who I can contact at the club about this? Although I suspect it will be pointless excercise

Warm soft drinks again for first game of the season as predicted again. £2 for a warm 500ml bottle of coke. When do they first turn the fridges on? 3.30?
