Well its very simple: He campaigned on it, taking a very hard line. Also his additions to the supreme court have led to this moment, as religious nutjobs finally believe now that they have a supreme court which will overturn Roe Vs Wade. So you have strong feelings about one form of religious nuttery but when some of us express opposition to Islamic teaching, we are 'racists' More double standards. Hardly a surprise. I don't do religion but I do accept democracy, even when I don't like the result. You obviously can't accept any democratic vote that you don't like.

There are 2 sides of this discussion for me. - I am closed to any debate that if there should be a law against abortion We all know anti-abortion act is religion rooted mindset and in 2019, i can not accept the fact that religion can still rule people especially in countries which is supposed to modernize themselves ages ago. 2- Although my thoughts are like above for banning abortion, i am also frustrated the way abortion is backed. Excluding exceptional cases (rape, you get pregnant but break-up right after etc), abortion is equal to ignorance. Stats which were shared here is shocking that 20% of pregnancy end with abortion. When we check penetration of women who had to run this process is more i believe. Only around me, there are lots of women who went through abortion process. As a person who needed to take IVF support to have kids, maybe i am sensitive but i don`t like the excuse of `oh we haven`t planned it` or `oh, it was an accident` attitude. No you planned it and not an accident. If you drink 5 pints and drive a car without a seatbelt, it is not an accident if you crush and injured or die. Although i am with `this is woman`s right` motto (thus i am against banning), there is a significant lack of awareness which tells people that abortion should not be a preference to avoid unwanted kid. While promoting `woman`s right/ woman`s decision`, public is also promoting abortion which is a process that any woman would better avoid. I will be very optimistic when humanity park the idea of banning this and focusing on to have a reliable strategy to reduce 20% (specific for UK) in upcoming decade.

For a dystopian view how about making abortions mandatory for all people who fall pregnant without any means of supporting the child or themselves

Alabama are doing this for 2 reasons: 1 - They have a supporter of this extreme restriction on abortions in the President. Funny how you put words into people's mouths/keyboards. I didnt say all Christian's are nutjobs, I said religious nutjob tea party freedom caucus folks are the ones trying to tell women what to do with their bodies. Again, Justice Kavanaugh is not certain to back Alabama on this. Justice Gorsuch, yes. Believing that life begins at conception does not make you a "nutjob". So much for your tolerance! Out of interest, how many weeks would you think that abortion is not acceptable? Right up to birth?

Would you lot bring back the death penalty here? 100%. It's the most logical way to deal with child abuse, rape and mass murder cases. These individuals will never be safe, trusted members of organised society. Their termination makes sense on financial and preventative grounds. Can't rape or murder anyone again if you're six feet under at the end of the day and it might prove a deterrent as sentencing as it stands clearly doesn't. I cannot compute any argue to the contrary, it's just illogical.

This uncovers another issue: More black babies in New York City are aborted than born alive. Plus, New York's Reproductive Health Act brought in this year means abortions can be performed after 24 weeks if it's felt necessary. That's from 6 months old. Not good in my view.
