To play for and captain your local team, the team that you supported as a kid, is quite an achievement.

And of course scoring for them in the Cup Final.

For a while a few years back, Jason played some great football. One match stands out in my memory, a midweek 3-2 win at Goodison Park. Punch was exceptional that night.

It is the right time to part company, and I wish Jason all the very best for the future.

He needs to get regular games and he won't with us. Also he has had well documented problems outside football so starting elsewhere with a clean slate makes sense

Punch peaked at the cup final and then gradually seemed to get worse and worse for us but seemed to keep his place on status rather than contribution. It's a shame as I think that has tarnished some people's memories. Up to the cup final he was a player who could turn a game and was important for his set-pieces and goals, plus he seemed to be very vocal on the pitch organising people. However, for every good game he did seem to have two where he was anonymous and he could be frustrating. Nevertheless, he certainly deserves a hearty round of applause for his contribution and I hope he finds somewhere where he can enjoy his football again before he retires. I wouldn't be surprised to see him show up at one of the newly promoted teams.

Punch has given me more good memories than bad so for that i'm grateful.
