There is something to this. Wikileaks exchanged various messages Trump jr and Roger Stone supporting his efforts in various ways. The RNC was hacked at a similar time to DNC too by the Russians, good luck waiting for that to appear, though I'm sure good use has been made of the contents. Wikileaks original mission has been warped by its selective and political skew, which is deeply unfortunate. Not that I blame Assange for developing his dislike of the US, as I expect those sex changes against him were a stitch up job on account of helping to expose disturbing military footage. If Assange is extradited I don't think he'll ever see the light of day. I hate to say it but I'm with Corbyn on this one. I don't think Assange should be extradited to the US. He will be though. Innocent until proven guilty and all that, but if you had to e-fit a sex offender from your imagination alone you'd come up with this geezer's face. Hiding in a boardroom for ten years? Absolutely guilty. Get that beast in clink. Hiding inside for ten years is a crime? With that criteria half of HOL would be locked up . Assange should just pull the very modern get out of extradition card of saying he's on the spectrum. Play our mollycoddling society for all its worth if it helps you keep your liberty. Interesting that the Australian government isn't falling over itself to protect one of their own. "Meanwhile, Australia said it had received a request for consular assistance after Assange was taken from the embassy. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Assange will not get "special treatment" and will have to "make his way through whatever comes his way in terms of the justice system".

Assange is primarily being tormented by nation states for exposing wrongdoing during the Iraq war. Real journalism disrupts the pushed narrative and they can't be having that. He revealed a truth and his life is all but ruined because of it. Blair peddled falsehoods and is richly rewarded by the system and will always have his liberty. From the 'sovereign' nation 'taking back control'. Craven lackeys of the United States. The USA does not extradite people here, it's strictly a one-way process. Good to see the present labour people against this, compared to their predecessors.

These were very conveniently timed charges that even those who accused him at the time don't appear to support. There was massive pressure to bring him down and I don't think we can act like that doesn't factor into what's happened to him since. His fear was always being extradited to the US no matter what decision he made. He was willing to return to Sweden if they guaranteed he wouldn't then be sent on to the US. They refused to do so. That was the plan all along. He will be proved right as that will be what happens to him now. Attachment: D36COKdWAAEjd7v.png large.png (122.00Kb)

Or he's an actual rapist and everyone is ignorantly defending him by buying into this conspiracy theory. Hiding for years on end doesn't look great either way. And as for the extradition to yank land? Bloke did break the law there, so why should they guarantee he doesn't have to face it?

Diane Abbott puts her foot into it by supporting Assnage. With friends like that.. As usual she gets her facts wrong. She says that he has never been charged by the Swedes over the rape allegations. John Humphries then points out several times that under Swedish law you cannot charge someone in absentia yet just like the titanic she ploughs on ignoring this and repeating he was never charged. I have no idea if he is guilty and if Labour want to try and stop the USA extraditing him that is their prerogative but do get your facts right Diane. Oh and by the way many of the sisterhood aren't too pleased with your position dismissing rape victims. Aren't you supposed to stand up for them?

If you read the attachment where one of the accusers herself accuses the police of making up the charges, I'm not sure shouting 'conspiracy' holds a lot of weight. Definitions differ between Sweden and most of the world. Unless you're intentionally using the Swedish definition for effect rather than ours, you'll be aware that he's accused of not wearing a condom during a consensual sex act. Not that I'm saying anyone should get away with doing that either, rather that there are degrees of he said she said, and it's something that very easy for someone to stitch someone else up on, especially when you've enraged those in high places. I've explained why he'd have good reason to stay in the embassy even if he is innocent of these charges, and you acknowledge that he'd have no reason to imagine he wouldn't be extradited yet again once there. With that in mind and the fact that he was in Sweden beyond the point at which the charges were initially dropped anyway, I don't think anything he's done since implies that he's running away from the charges in Sweden. He repeatedly met with them here in fact. He's instead concerned about spending decades in prison in the US. Edited by dollardays (12 Apr 2019 1.07pm)
