I have to be honest, in my opinion I find our collection of midfielders far too samey and a little underwhelming from an attacking pov. I think we could upgrade almost all. McArthur has been a fantastic servant and for his faults Schlupp is one of the few who contributes with goals from open play and at least has a thought to try and go forward with the ball. I just wish we had a Shelvey, Mooy type who can get hold of the ball and have some attacking vision with the ability to build attacks with his passing. As a side note, goodness knows why Kouyate doesnt get more game time. As I have said in other threads, Meyer has done nothing to suggest he should be a starter in this team. Maybe next year. What a loss RLC has been.

Shelvey is consistently left out by Benitez, as there is no doubt about his talent, but doesn’t work hard enough for the team and goes missing in games, similar to Meyer.
McArthur gives 100% all game, that is why he is in the team, it’s not always about talent but contribution.

Seeing as you mentioned me....

Roy may not be doing it deliberately but he is on a stitch up of Meyer, there is no other explanation.

The whole team, the whole performance was crap first half. Meyer had some neat touches, and on one occasion he harried and won the ball back well, and launched an attack.

He was playing much, much better than Schlupp.

Second half things opened up and while I will admit MacArthur actually affected the game when it became a but more stretched, but this is EXACTLY when Meyer should have been out there.

Once again though Roy stitches him up and hooks him at half time (he never makes subs at half time), like starting him in physical away games.

Max Meyer was one of the most highly touted young prospects to come out of Germany in years. Please dont expect me to believe he has become a sh&t player overnight. Hodgson has a lot to answer for destroying the guy's confidence and not letting him get into any kind of rhythm here.

The way Hodgson has managed him has been nothing short of very, VERY poor. You can say all you like that he hasnt taken his chances but any player coming from a foreign league, especially one who isnt the strongest physically, needs a proper run of games and some stability.

Roy hasnt got a clue how to bed in new signings, except ones on loan that we cannot buy anyway, they start every week.

Kouyate should be starting for one.

Mark my words, Meyer will leave Palace behind and go on to become a very high class and highly regarded player in the game. He is too good for the way Hodgson sets us up, it completely doesn't play to any of his strengths.

So why the F did we sign him?

Shelvey is an Essex boy and I have seen his brother George play as a striker for Barking.Not that local to Selhurst Park !

Jimmy Mac has been great for us, everyone loves a guts and thunder player even if the technical brilliance is lacking.

I don't think playing him and Luka is necessary, one or the other for me.

Anyone on here saying Shelvey is a good player instantly puts their opinion in the bin as far as I'm concerned. He's a fat, ill disciplined, glory ball merchant of the first order. Utter s***e and not fit to lace JM's boots, even if I do agree that JM isn't the greatest.
