I saw that documentary as well. Yes a very good case for that person but then most of the ones that make it to a TV show are very plausible.

I did have one issue with the program it is clear he lied in court and gave a false name so the program makers jumped to the conclusion he must be the ripper.

There is an alternate theory I don't remember them exploring. He sees the body and is robbing it when he is seen by a copper and quickly switches to innocent bystander mode. We will never know the truth for sure.

I think the key evidence was the blood flow. The victim appeared to have just been killed and the only person in sight was Lechmere standing over the body.

Of course, DNA evidence can be very damning but distant relations share DNA with loads of other people. It would have to be a direct ancestor and a clean sample to be sure as I understand it

There's always going to be a first person on the scene. We don't know that he was standing over the body as that's the evidence of one man talking about a dark scene....the evidence given wasn't in the sense that he was suspected.

I don't think Police are stupid myself and this guy would have been checked out.....He may have given a false name but he gave his correct address and employer and spoke in court.

The guy being put forward from this DNA test is one of the main suspects that the Police at the time believed was the ripper.....the only person thought to have seen the ripper for certain identified this guy but refused to testify as he was a fellow Jew.

Funny if it was this guy considering the message on the wall next to a ripper escape route.

I would only question the validity of the DNA sample and if it is valid, what the chances are that it could be anyone else other than Kosminski.

The details are all important.

For sure, your skepticism is healthy in my view....I'm very much just chewing the cud.

Might i suggest reading Bruce Robinsons book, They all love Jack: Busting the ripper. Bloody good read. Took him 15 years to research and write.

I bought that myself when it came out...not had a chance to read it yet though...

I am aware that you were joking.

Believe it or not, I was also joking.

I'm afraid that the HH Holmes doc was in keeping with many American shows of a similar type.

Let's face it. We already know they won't find Hitler or Bigfoot or expose the UFO conspiracy or find a ghost because if they did, it would be on the front pages before the program even aired.

Maybe not the UFOs. We could be invaded by aliens who land in 50 mile wide saucers and the government would still deny it.

The only programme of that type recently that I believe did finally expose the truth was the one about the Alcatraz escapees.
The Eastwood film was slightly wrong about how they escaped and they did survive. There was photographic evidence and very plausible testimony.
Very convincing.

If you havent already seen it i'd recomend watching Hunting Hitler...extremely plausable exposé on how he may have escaped and where to

That was a great programme!
I thought they were planning a follow up to it.

They didn't find him though, did they.

I'm quite prepared to entertain the possibility that Hitler escaped, but at this point, what does it actually matter?

He would be long dead by now.

Hitler died in Berlin.

Anyone saying anything different is selling you something.

The Russians aren't stupid and if they had seriously believed that what they found wasn't convincing enough then they would have torn up South America looking for him.

Stalin was the worst kind of paranoid savage and if you knew what Hitler had sanctioned the German forces to do in Russia you'd understand why......though that's no sanction for what the Russians did in Berlin and on their way there.

Without physical evidence, I suppose that the question will always be asked.

The bit of skull the Russians had that turned out to be a woman didn't help.
