Back in the 90's actually, quite recently, we never had this problem.

But it is too difficult for any tory to admit it.

Brexit means they don't have to bother with other things like crime.

Intentional homicide per 100,000 inhabitants.

1950 England and Wales 0.79 (the highest it was for the entire decade)

1990 England and Wales 1.09
1991 England and Wales 1.22
1992 England and Wales 1.13
1993 England and Wales 1.10
1994 England and Wales 1.22
1995 England and Wales 1.28
1996 England and Wales 1.12
1997 England and Wales 1.24
1998 England and Wales 1.43
1999 England and Wales 1.45

This isn't about left or right opinion, the commissioner of police has stated it

Why do you defend cuts to public services? You want there to be less police? You want to have less money put into schools and the NHS?

Or perhaps someone could argue how less police decreases crime? Much like when Boris Johnson tried to argue less firefighters improved the service

Let's chuck more money at police, hospitals, firefighting and every other public service. It can be funded by increasing income tax to 90% like it was in Harold Wilson's day.

Not that it will worry you as you don't live here

The penalty for carrying a knife should be the same as for carrying a gun, preceded by an amnesty to get knives of the street.

What is your point, they are all significantly higher than the fifties.

Tough on crime and it's causes - Tony Blair.

Lord above. When are the Police ever going to say that they don't want more funding?

It is not about chasing people about with truncheons.
Crime prevention is more and more about technology.

I think someone may have mentioned opinions worth listening to, perhaps that could be gauged on if a thread had many replies v none?

What are you waffling about? Violent crime was high. Violent crime has been high for this country for decades.

It doesn't matter what party or politician is in.

You are emotionally attached to your beliefs and prefer them to reality.

Villians and thugs have always used violence but the levels now are unprecedented. There is a direct correlation between immigration and street violence. Some cultures promote gang culture and the use of knives to settle disputes.
What is funny is how we have known this for years and yet some dummies still want to use it as a political football.

Police numbers are not the be all and end all of the crime prevention so stop peddling this crap.

Correct. An overtly male bias in population numbers engenders a violent society. How many of the London Stabbers are female ?

And what gender are the massive majority of all immigrants ?

you seen the photos from the refugee boats ?

Poverty is another big factor, years of austerity forcing people into poverty, Resorting to food banks and inevitably increase in crime as people become more desperate

Stabbings arnt being done for robbery.
Its done for status and disrespecting one another.
So the poor argument is trying to justify it in your eyes.
Pretty sad really.
Still 2 billion would pay for a few police and where are your figures that more people are dying because of fire brigade cuts.
Please dont use grenfell as a million fire fighters would have the same end to that one.
