Roy Hodgson is conducting his news conference ahead of the Eagles' visit to Southampton.

The manager has confirmed all of his goalkeepers are fit to play so either Wayne Hennessey or Vicente Guaita are expected to replace Julian Speroni.

Hodgson added: "I was prepared to play Connor Wickham against Tottenham in the cup, so there would be no reason why he wouldn't be ready for the league. The same goes for Christian Benteke."

Wickham scored in Palace's 2-0 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Interesting because on Sunday he said that when asked about Wickham:

“Its good that he got that chance today, had it been a league game he wouldn’t have had that chance as Jordan Ayew would have played in the center forward position, but I decided to rest Jordan.”

Not being funny but Roy is getting old and he has directly contradicted himself there on starting Wickham in a league game.

I'm hoping Roy was being coy and trying to lead Southampton into thinking Ayew will lead the line tomorrow for their preparations.

(If it's not Wickham or Tekkers I'll be annoyed to say the least)

I can see the logic of starting Benteke and then replacing him with Wickham reversing the Sunday game. Neither will be match fit this season so we need to manage them sensibly.

I agree with Badger. You would hope that they could share the 90 minutes at Southampton but both are coming back from long term injuries and both have been prone to breaking down in the past. I thought Wickham looked good on Sunday but the medical team and Roy will have to assess whether he is ready to start again just three days later.

Blimey you are more conservative than Roy.

Based on today if they dont get re-injured there are 16 more games to go this season even if we dont beat Doncaster.

Think Ayew is already at a disadvantage in relation to the other 2 as he is only on loan. Only fitness is keeping him in the side for prolonged game time. Judging by those latest comments from Roy either Connor or Tekkers will start tomorrow and either replaced by Ayew or more likely the other. It seems likely that we will be signing another striker on loan and then look for another permanent striker in the summer.

Two things, giving away information to the enemy is not good and he said nothing about who will start and who will be subs ..us and Southampton have no idea.

Would he rest Ayew, so he can be a sub in the next game? He also said there is no way Wickham starts in a league game.

He has now tried to roll that back but I think he gave the game away after Spuds.

However, Tickled Pink, lets see what happens, and hopefully we will both be tickled pink with the lineup.

For me that would mean dropping PVA, playing Meyer, and starting Benteke or Wickham.

Maybe he meant that because it wasn't a league game it would be an easier come back. Maybe he's also now seen the shift CW put in. Also, maybe, mind games with a new to the PL manager to make him prepare his defence for Ayew.

It's all conjecture until the team sheet's released tomorrow.

Yes, PVA has been very careless here and there with giving away possession but he is priceless when he gets it right just needs to calm down ..gets well too excited! Meyer I feel will be sub and that will also depend on how Southampton are feeling in the second half, they have painfully improved since the glory days of Hughes (I so wanted them to go down ) so, although you may not be so tickled with the starting line up I'm very sure you will be after the game, we are a different fish away.
