I believe the problem with mentioning names and divulging transfer activity is that as soon as these don't come to fruition one is pilloried and accused of purporting to be "In the know" and all that hogwash. As Dazza has mentioned, the very nature of the transfer window means that events can conspire to change the picture hence some of the activity mentioned on here just doesn't come to fruition as we have seen on HOL ! Transfers can be protracted and convoluted and sometimes just as one sees that line approaching there is a 'Devon loch' moment which of course leads to disappointment and frustration. Dazza's intentions are well-meant so let's not throw brickbats at him if certain information doesn't come to fruition. Edited by Willo (05 Jan 2019 9.08am)

I don't see a problem with Dazza and I appreciate his comments. Transfer windows are about large sums of money involved, the competition from clubs and the various stake-holders (agents, players, clubs, owners, managers, FA, fans, media etc). Fans and the media do not feature high in the above list, nor should they. So don't expect to hear much from managers on TV about the potential of any transfer deals. Deals are about negotiation. You don't give anything away. I'm not going to tell a car seller how much I really want his car or my bottom line. And why have egg on your face? Club negotiators are negotiating deals involving budgets, accountants, player profiles, etc and the manager has to shut-the-f--k-up. Of course clubs discuss future deals prior to the window, but if their 'Solanke' is a hospital case, do you think they're going to let another club know? I'd be surprised if Solanke turns out to be value for Bournemouth. My bet is that they were conned. Then again, maybe we were conned and Solanke faked unfitness for a lucrative deal? We'll see. No one knows until the deal is signed. Not Dazza, not Parish, no-one. That's transfers. Edited by Bald---Eagle (04 Jan 2019 7.09pm) Conned? We have first hand experience of that from the scousers. AKA Benteke.

Even if Danza does know some people in our transfer management, it makes little difference, because the whole transfer business is one of horsetrading. Nobody really knows what is going on including the likes of our Chairman. One thing that would be great to know is what actually happened. Why did our deal with Solanke really fail?

Well making a start clearing the decks with four departures. Missed out on Defoe ( usual procrastination) and Solanke ,who will be fit to play in a week, has signed permanently for Bournemouth.Would surely have been worth a 6 month loan deal as we play Liverpool next (would not be eligible to play) and today we are in Cup action. Are we going to see a replay of previous windows apart from the rather excellent window when BFS was allowed to have his say???

Unless you know better he was never on our radar. Did we also miss out on Pulisic? Also not sure where the ‘fit in a week’ comes from - our medical/sports science dept clearly don’t think so & we do not have any match fit strikers to work with in the meantime. Bournemouth do & look to be readying themselves to let Wilson go for big money. Another luxury we don’t have.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Missed out on Defoe (usual procrastination) Roy was on record as saying that Defoe hadn't been discussed. Dazza seems to have some knowledge of what's going on and he says that we have more than one target so let's just wait and see.

Update: 3 of the strikers that we are looking at are Niasse, Origi & Batshuayi I have been told by a reliable source that talks have taken place tonight in regards Origi and a move could happen not sure if it is permanent or loan. My thoughts would be a loan with a view to making it permanent in the summer. Moses is still very much on the agenda and Townsend is in talks over a new deal. Sørloth should be gone within the next week or so on loan with an option to buy. Edited by dazza (07 Jan 2019 9.30pm) Edited by dazza (07 Jan 2019 9.31pm)
