The campaign group Communities Against Gatwick Noise Emission (CAGNE) has described today's events as "an early Christmas present for those that suffer aircraft noise". It says it doesn't condone the flying of drones near airports, but said tens of thousands of residents today "enjoyed some respite from the aircraft motorways above their homes that usually, in part, blight their lives day and night" I hope the police have paid these w***ers a visit. It beggars belief if this genuinely was some kind of protest and I can see the authorities coming down hard on this, as they should.

It's just unbelievable that they even think this is a good opportunity to make a comment like that. The customers disrupted by this have no say in how the airport and flight paths work. You can bet your arse that these pricks choose to use the airport too, rather than fly in/out of another one out of principle. Edited by Stuk (20 Dec 2018 10.27pm)

A caller on LBC pointed out the difference between 2 interviews this morning. One was with the Assistant Chief Constable of Sussex (Gatwick story). The other was with the captain of HMS Dragon who for the second time in a matter of weeks have made a massive drugs bust in the Middle East. Guess which one exuded leadership and a can do attitude and which one sounded like a box ticking civil servant concerned about his pension.

I haven't been following this story to closely, but am aware what's going on, but I saw someone say that considering that Gatwick is under heavy surveillance? There hasn't been an actual photo or video of these drones & this person reckons that they may actually be having computer software problems at the airport & are using the drone story as cover.

It beggars belief if this genuinely was some kind of protest and I can see the authorities coming down hard on this, as they should. All ‘the authorities’ can do is find the perpetrators and bring a case to court. Then it’s a up to the magistrates or a jury. The maximum sentence is the maximum sentence; 5 years - out in 2. The authorities can’t change that. What were you envisaging?
