Looking at recent ex-Palace scorers: Glenn Murray Agreed, all bar Murray in lower divisions but don't they look prolific compared to Ayew? Just saying ...

Why exactly did Parish et el go for Ayew rather than Danny Ings who has scored another two today and has scored 8 goals in all competitions this season.

Obligation to buy is for 20 million quid. Given the injury history I agree with not buying Ings. We just needed to do a lot better than Ayew and Sorloth is all......

Sorloth didn't do anything wrong and held the ball up well and helped build attacks. But yes, Ayew was pretty awful. Well he wasted a promising move late on when he ran the ball out of play instead of crossing. His control was appalling. And he again demonstrated an inability to use his stature in the air. I am surprised people seem to think he was an improvement on Ayew. Neither of them are up to the mark. Until we acquire a cutting edge we will remain in danger of the drop; which is so frustrating as in all other respects we have a team that is more than capable of reaching the nirvana of mid-table mediocrity.

I just hope we weren't so naive when we signed him that we agreed to take him for the whole season without the option of sending him back... We need to boot him back to Swansea in January without doubt... But then this is Crystal Palace so we are probably stuck with him until May.. Edited by kennybrowns leftfoot (17 Dec 2018 4.17am)
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

I believe this is a very accurate assessment of our current plight.

I've been happy to give him time but he simply looks like he doesn't care. Happy to give Sully Kaikai a run out. And don't get me started on the white under-armour/t-shirt.

I'm still not sure what he's meant to be good at - he doesn't seem to be quick, or hard-working, or skillful, or good in the air, or a sharp finisher, or clever at linking up play... or, well, anything. He's merely a body to make up the numbers, and there are almost certainly cheaper alternatives available in our own youth team.

When I spoke to someone when we signed Ayew he commented that he makes a number of runs in a game and will run the channels all day.He said he takes free kicks over a wall and has a good shot on him from distance. He did score against us last season in both games against Swansea !

Firstly Ings favored Southampton. He is from area and he may have also felt that he would be a reserve to Benteke. The conditions put on loan by Liverpool were too high for us, Loan Fee, Requirement to Buy etc. But yes I would have preferred him. Ayew is best played off a big striker (Last season Abraham) and we have never really played him that way

He is patently not a centre forward and he is obviously anxious but I think he is useful and don't doubt his willingness. If Wickham or Benteke come back in he could play off them but putting him up against experienced PL centre halves is not the answer. I would have liked Kalkai to have had a decent run, hasn't had much luck with us has he.
