Well, it looks like our paths are about to cross again for the first time since 2003 when you beat us 4-1 at Blundell Park. Since that game the fortunes of both clubs have gone in drastically different directions with us suffering the ignominy of relgation to non-league whilst you have reached Englands highest Division.

I have visted Selhurst Park on a few occasions in the past. 2 of the most memorable of those were the final day of the 84/85 season when we won 2-0 there. Kevin Drinkell scored both our goals that day before Norwich stole him for a pittance off us at the end of the season. It was also the day of The Bradford Fire disaster. At the time of that game, my brother was living in Thornton Heath so I was staying over for the weekend and I can clearly remember buying an early edition of a Sunday newspaper on the Saturday evening and it was being reported that no one was thought to have died. Sadly there were very, very wrong.

The other occasion was in the 95/96 season, a midweek game when you beat us 5-0 with all the goals coming in the first half. After your 5th went in one of our fans got out of his seat, walked into the aisle and with his arms outstretched began singing "We're gonna win 6-5" for which he was promptly thrown out for inciting your fans.

My last visit there though was a bit surreal as it was against Wimbledon. We drew 3 all in front of barely 1000 people.

So far we have sold 2500 tickets for the game and they are not on general sale yet so hopefully we might come close to shifting the full 4100 allocation we've been given.

Our away support has always held up well, even when we were relegated to The Conference we'd sometimes outnumber the home fans.

Here's hoping for a decent game. Maybe a bit too much to ask for a win for us but I hope we give a decent account of ourselves on the day.

Really looking forward to this one. See you all on the 5th.

Are you Willo's northern cousin?

Don't forget to bring your kit this time..preferably one that doesn't clash with our red and blue...lol!

I'm hoping that we'll play in our traditional black and white stripes as we've got a sort of campaign going up here called "Scarves Darn Sarf" where all fans are being encouraged to take a black and white scarf.

4000 fans twirling their scarves around their heads chanting "Mariners, Mariners" as the teams come out should be a fantastic sight and should give the players a boost, not that they should need one.

I like a bit of Grimsby haddock. Here’s hoping the Mariners come down with a couple of lorry-loads to distribute to our fans as a goodwill gesture.

I remember Kevin Drinkell well. I once saw him saw a cracker against us at Blundell Park.

Indeed, will be a great sight to see so many Grimsby fans inside Selhurst, I reckon you could take up the whole Arthur Wait (holds about 9,000)

The kit thing I was referring to was way back in the 70's you had to wear our kit of red and blue stripes as you forgot to bring your own..we played in our second kit of white shirts with a red and blue sash if I recall...

Can remember going to Grimsby a couple of times and seem to remember the away stand was basically made entirely out of wood, was this stand closed due to the aftermath of the Bradford disaster?

They might outnumber our own supporters !

Without being disrespectful, such a game means more to supporters of lower league clubs who are playing away to a PL team.We of course have been in this situation when we were in the lower divisions.Let us hope that our team will be as 'Fired up' for this game as Grimsby will surely be.Maybe Lloyd Griffith will be at the game supporting his beloved Grimsby.

Look at the state of the ground and the state of the hair!

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Good job we didn’t let them wear the Sash, that would’ve been sacrilege and whoever would’ve been responsible for letting it happen would’ve been stoned in the street
